Anyone know how good the input A/D converters are on viruses?

I wanted to use the virus as an fx unit instead of buying one (virus effects are great ) but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the quality of the converters for the input? Im guessing theyre good since its access, but i figured id ask, and maybe someone has something to say about that....

They're decent and don't sound noticeably terrible. I dunno if they're "OMG AMAZING!!!11111!", but they definitely aren't ruining anything. I've only had to use them like... twice... and didn't do a thorough A/B test with anything so I don't have any better comments.

I've got a TI and always had bad experience with physical ins / outs. Mine has a lot of noise and DC offset. My mate was using his as an audio interface for a while, lets say he was the happiest man in the world when he bought a Motu Ultralite ...

But then again, it depends whats "bad" for you, it may be just fine for your needs.

long story short, im deciding wether to buy an eventide eclipse for effects, vs another synth (maybe poly evolver)

and since my virus is never at home, i was wondering if couldnt just use it for effects (never tried), esp since it has nice ones

I hate to use virus as an example lol, but I notice this synth is a monster at doing this. I've heard some virus sounds with overtones/timbres that make me want to hump a TI.

What does virus use to do this? Is it the same crap we have access to, like distortion/flangers/phasers etc?
Why does virus do this so well?

I have such a hard friggn time getting new and unique timbres. Flangers always sound basically the same, sweepy and boring.
Distortion always make a sound - sound like its dying.

What do you guys use?
This is one reason I've always had respect for the virus is because it seems it can take an avg sounding saw lead, rape it with fx, and make it sound better.

When I rape my sounds with fx, they all seem sloppy and tired, I cant even get close to some of the timbres a virus can do.
So is this synth doing anything real special that makes this task easier or am I most likely just using fx the wrong way?

hehehe

i never really tried reason so i dont know

^^ Haha, this is what I meant Robby when I said you change your tune with every post.. You basically own yourself week in week out, and no i'm not digging through threads for facts, I'm just saying your opinion about things changes faster than a hooker changes condoms.

Bro you are an idiot and I'll tell you why.

Cause I NEVER at any point said Virus fx were better then Reason, nor do I really say much of anything about Reason. In the past I have no idea wtf you heard, but all in all the MAJORITY of what I have said a have been good things about the virus. A much lesser amount of my posts have been bad things about the Virus.

You take 1 bad or 1 good thing I say about 1 specific synth, and use THAT to generalize on my behalf, the way I feel about a synth in 1 sentence, as being, I either like it or I don't. That is your problem. I have the right to feel more then 1 way about a synth. I may like the fx on a synth but not be crazy about the oscillators, I may like the way a synth sounds but not be crazy about the way it integrates.
You take ONE THING and use that to generalize my entire perspective towards something, its extremely rigid thinking bro comeon. Use your mind and why the hell do you focus on what I write so damn much anyway? That in itself is shady. Who gives a fuck? Are you just sitting there like waiting me to fuck up so you can call me out? Thats pathetic dude and this is like your 3rd or 4th time doing it. I can like a girls face and ass, but not like her boobs and still wind up fucking her. Same way I can have multiple feelings about a synth and still want one. For some reason you have selective hearing and only hear half of what I say, at this point its truely beyond annoying, and its really only making you look in the end like you don't have much of a life off this forum.

Please leave me alone, thank you.
