Any recommendations for software that I can use to create vidoes of both audio and visual coming out of teh PC?

Ideally it'll be able to see the ASIO interface and record the audio from that but I guess I can run my audio software through ASIO4ALL as an alternative.

I'm assuming a full resolution 20-30fps video is going to be enormous. Does one re-render it afterwards and create an mp4 for example?

Free is best but if I has to pay, I has to pay.

Theress something called camtasia studio im sure that does this, I think they let you have it for free but has a big logo stuck on it.

If you search the net long and hard enough you may find what you need to get it free...

I've used CamStudio - it's free and simple. Gets the job done.

Camstudio looks pretty handy for a freebie, cheers chaps.

Will it record audio via ASIO drivers too? If not I guess i'll need to get a USB mic to record via onboard audio.

It's been well over a year since I last used it, so I don't recall how it handles audio.

Camstudio is superb except the inability to zoom in on a portion of the screen while recording.

Perhaps that can be elsewhere done post record?

I think Fraps can zoom, but I'm not entirely sure.

Not thought about that, I had it in the back of my head that it was just for videogame capture but I suppose it's doing the same thing really!

I use Jing for Mac.. free too...

Camstudio is not completely user friendly. The default frame rate isn't so great, slow. If you put some time into playing with the settings, I suppose it might be good. All I ended up with were avi files that crash every video player I have, including camstudio itself. Again, I didn't put a lot of time into it, and I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to video formats. Hey, it's free.
