I am almsot sure that there are moany other posts about this subject becaseu it is such a common question posed by newer djs. I would say a big part of needle purchasing has to do with how much you are willing to spend, what kind of style you are spinning, and of course your preference of stylus.

Also i hear that needles that are sperical instead of elliptical are essential to not messing up your records.. however that's only something i heard and I couldn't tell you much more than that. :-)
