I am soooo looking forward to this. Absolutely adored the first game, beat the whole game (even the dreadful side quests) several times, so if the promises for the sequel are that they will cut out the bad stuff and improve on the good (ah but doesn't everybody promise that....but i tend to trust these guys) and make it more epic in the process...come january i will lock myself inside for a few days until i play trough it at least once.
I really need to finish the first one. I was going to do it as soon as I finished Dragon Age but Planescape Torment arrived yesterday and a new TF2 update has just been released so I'm a bit busy.
Will definitely be grabbing number 2 as soon as I finish the first one though!
damn that's probably the best voice acting cast...ever.

As much as I love BioWare, I never got around to Jade Empire or Mass Effect (i know im missing out). I should look around the used game bins and see if I can pick up the first one, cause this game looks amazing, and I should play it from the beginning.

I really felt burned by paying full price for Jade Empire. If you can nab it on the cheap, it's worth a playthrough I guess, but overall kind of uninteresting and dismally linear, if you ask me. As such, I never gave Mass Effect a chance as I'd heard it was extremely similar. Perhaps I should re-think my snobbery.

Yea Jade Empire was sort of a let down. Agreed on being very linear, and I found it to be a bit too easy. Still worth playing through but don't expect a deep gaming experience.

It's definitely linear but the game is quite fun. If you find yourself irritated with the combat system after the first hour or so, I'd recommend sticking with it for a little while longer. I know at first I just did not like the way it played at all, but later on the in the game I was hooked.
Looking forward to 2.

Jade Empire (Special Edition) is currently US$10.16 on Steam.
Mass Effect is $19.99
yeah, jade empire is definitely the weak link in bioware's chain.

Even so, i must say i still enjoyed it quite a bight. It may be a bit simple but sometimes that is just what one wants. I went in knowing that i shoudnt expect the next baldurs gete or planescape torment and was quite satisfied with it.
Bu if i can complain for a bit here...i just found that that the first ME runs like crap on my new computer with windows 7 on it...which is sort of surprising because it ran perfectly well on my 3 year old one (which ran xp) and on the new one i cant get it to play smooth even with everything on low...seriously, wtf.

Have you checked for compatibility modes or multiple-processor interference? Those seem to be the most notorious culprits whenever I revisit older games.

Just finished this. Nice finish and revelation towards the end.
Very much looking forward to the next one.
