how do they function?
do i have to break them and then they start to bright up?

uhh nah nah nah!
thats not true yo... the opposite is true, cauze if newbie trancers use such stuff it will look like shit.
but if u know how to move them (the arms n hands) it will look like the music sounds, like a dream...

Regardles sof their size, they ussually last a minimum of 5 Hours (Out of my experience at least) and please, if you use them, make it look good... (Making nice hand moves is the key... I too am a hand dancer )
i get glowsticks for a dollar here... and they last me normally about a good 20hrs..
there are plenty of different kinds of glowsticks, different sizes too
too make them glow, just bend them and they make a snapping noise.. it glows almost immediately..
if you want to make them last.. (if your practicing at home) put them in the freezer.. so instead of wasting a whole glowstick for only 1 hr of practice, you get a couple of weeks out of it....
im not into dancing with them.. but i do poi with them fun fun
p.s. the glow stuff inside doesnt taste very good

if you want to do the nun-chuck style of glowsticking, be sure to securly attach them together with a chain ,, nothing is worse than a glow stick flying off in the middle of doing some crazy moves

what's this about putting them in the freezer? I was unaware that made them last that much longer!! I also do poi, and this would be very helpful for doing it @ home.
SO what exactly causes the fliued to function longer?
