Apple i7 laptops, anyone know when?

Well atm I am using a Athlon 64 3.02Ghz pc. 512 Ram.

It's getting beyond comprehension in terms of speed, etc.

I want a new desktop but also for my job a laptop will be very useful.

I have seen a nice DELL i7 laptop (I know Dell, but this one is good, trust) but was wondering if apple are gonna go i7 soon with their shit?

Any ideas?

Yes, i5 and i7 will be in the laptops. Probably in April.

Its supposed to have been coming for the last 6 months or so. I wouldn't bother with apple right now. Whatever's causing the delay is most likely a technical issue, maybe something to do with the intel vs nvidia chipset fiasco.

Also, no matter what happens, any processor they put in will most likely only be dual core, not one of the higher end quad core i7s. So the macbook will still be pitifully underpowered compared to a whole host of far cheaper options.

If you want something specifically for battery life and mobility then get a netbook, otherwise, get a more powerful pc laptop.

Dell high end laptops are actually quite good. I've had one for years (XPS M1710) and never had an issue.
There's just such a high quantity of them sold that you naturally get a lot of bad reports, kind of like with iPods.

As for the question, they've been speculated about since last year but Apple don't see to be getting of their ass. No reason to yet because all the deluded hipsters still buy anything with an Apple logo on it.

Maybe the deluded hipsters understand that those extra CPU cycles will be used for an antivirus program so in the end , it doesn't really mater.

The firewire controllers and other bits and pieces on dells are really bad. Or they were up until a year or two ago. Don't know if they've improved now. Also, because they're poorly designed, I think the core i7s are often being found to be underclocking to reduce heat a lot of the time. Can't remember where I heard that though.

Standard MacBooks don't even have firewire anymore and haven't for some time. If you spend the same amount of cash on a Dell, rather than a MacBook Pro, you will get whatever firewire chipset your heart desires. Most of the bellyaching about Dell comes from people who buy at the low end and suffer the consequences.

I've got one of the so called "bad" firewire connections. All I had to do was some basic research and find an AI which supports it without any issues. That was 3-4 years ago.

Well its a bit crap if your limited in your choices by your laptop's shoddy firewire IMO.

And I just think its emblematic of dell's approach. Make the components that are advertised high end (CPU, GPU, etc) while making the rest of the computer as cheaply as possible. I doubt whether that's changed in the last few years.

Yea well I'd rather get a RICOH chipset than none at all.
They aren't that expensive to replace anyway.

To be honest I've been looking at a Mac to hook up to the DJ gear so I can throw Traktor and Ableton on but they are still way overpriced and I'd rather get a Win machine with an i5 than an old C2D Mac.
