Question bouncing in 24 bit then converting? ? ? ?

have a question for you guys??

if i bounced a track in 24 BIT - WAV basically the usual from logic.
and someone converted it to 16 bit.
would the file lose much integrity? would it sound worse or is the difference not noticeable.?

i know i could just bounce in 16bit wav. but im just curious if i didnt and then converted it from 24 to 16?

cheers
JC

Not knowing anything about your listening setup... my guess is that as long as whatever you're using to convert applies some dither, you probably won't notice a difference.

difference probably would be in clarity of reverb tails

as CReddick said as long as there is dither somewhere in conversion process you will be fine

dithering....if possible try to keep it in 32bit until you're completely done

Exactly. You want to do as little conversion as possible - This will mean you get less artifcats and truncation.

Lets not ignore that a DAW's floating point is typically even higher... so dither is occurring all day long. But in short, I agree.
