I have sold a few on ebay , and had no problems with them getting to their destination un-harmed through UPS. First thing to do is don't ship with the weight on the tonearm, Some ass shipped me one and it came broken with a piece of the tonearm still in it, take it off and wrap it up.
Packing wise, I wrapped it several times in bubble wrap, then surrounded with packing paper and shipping popcorn. If it has a dust cover, make sure you put some shipping paper or cut up a paper towel tube and stick it inside the cover between the platter and dust cover. This way any pressure on the top will not crack it.
