I need a program where i can shrink my mp3 files but retain the minutes of the song. i need it for my mp3 player. 12mb and so are too hight i was wondering if i can cut it down to like 4 or 5 mb but keep the length of the song??? any programs like that??? if so where can i get it??? dont know how to use an ftp so if u can tell me that would be helpful.. thanks everyone

You can cut down mp3s by redcuing the Rate,e.g. if you have a rate of 192Kb the file is much bigger than the same song with 112Kb. Convert your mp3 to Wav with Winampm and then use an mp3 encoder to convert it into a bitrate of 112Kb or whatever you like...

Like Trancevision said, its all in the bitrate.
At 128kbps your looking at 1mb per minute, which is fine for most music. At 96kbps your looking at 700kb per minute and at 64kbps its aroud 400kbs.
Personally if you want smallest but with still very reasonable sound quality id say try a 96 bitrate,64 sounds like mono radio, but 96 is quite good.
