Confused NightOwl "The DX Effect" - - - my uplifting trance cliche-fest

Something amazing has happened: I have finished something!

Originally I thought only my gravestone would feature such a statement, but my first tune posting is up on soundcloud and any thoughts, critisms, suggestions as ever much appreciated...

Nob bad at all my friend, actually I was really impress of the maturity of this track. Well arranged, well constructed with nice and unique instruments sound, nice blend of smooth melody and worm/positive energy and good/clean production.

You have still some more room for atmospheric FX which can definitely benefit this track.

Not bad, not bat at all my friend - great start and welcome in producers brotherhood lol.

Cheers

Good stuff... honestly really good, please dont listen to my critique and think its poo

Feel Kick could be fatter/tighter??? theres lots of forum articles about how to make kicks punchier... maybe look a them and play about with the settings.... such as compression, eq, limiting,. layering etc.

the bass when it comes in goes up in volume to quickly, feels it needs more steady rise.. and maybe its volume is slightly to high.

The beginning percussions in my opinion lack a real 'groove'... could play around with them to get something sounding awesome...

Feel that a lot of sounds need more epic atmosphere in them. I always try to imagine the mucis being played in ahuge arena... which is hard when your in your bedroom/studio.

Also, for me the structure little random.. I always think trance dance repetitive build uo cause thats what people want..

Use more buildup sweeps and stuff.. just generally more 'atmosphere' in there. Lots of bangs, smashes and sweeps would be cool. Check out the fx packs you can get such as vengeance (the pros shamelessly use these packs, I hear them all the time on podcasts of mixes etc..)

Thanks guys

I have re-tweaked the original and added a few swooshes to try and glue sections tranistions together, new kick & hats & longer reverb. I also retweaked the master EQ as I'm suprised nobody commented on it being a bit boxy/honkey.

Im undecided about around 05:00 time for the moment... it may need shorting so that the listeners get the lead melody back quicker.

My God, it's bright. Or I've been listening to this music, too long on my headphones and have mix-ear, which would make me want to turn up the high frequencies...

Gah! No! It's bright! It's burning my eyes, it's so bright, and being that it's not even in the visual spectrum... Well, I hope you're happy. I'm fucking blind!

Just kidding - but it was a little bright.

While I like the overall progression of the song, it felt sparse and very basic. It's like a skeleton and some of the musculature got put down but it's missing some stuff to make it into a song. The synths that were playing only seemed to regard the higher octaves as their property. I would layer a synth an octave lower and experiment with some lower-mid octave counter-point to give depth to the parts.
