Ni-Cd's review: DJ Dan @ Footwork
Hello fellow EDM addicts...
Can I just say how much footwork rocks? The sound, the vibe, the sound...the people... and the people they bring to spin! WOW!

It's been a while since I actually have actively posted on the 'net lately regarding all things wonderful and wild EDM.
However, DJ Dan has ACTIVELY forced me out of retirement.
\
There are a lot of things you will hear about this guy and what he spins...but let me tell you:
IT IS ALL UNDERRATED.
Can I tell you what an amazing, refreshing, wonderful sound it was?
It lacked all things tech-house-minimal-make-me-want-to-kill-myself and had all things vocal house.
And not just vocal house a la Dennis Ferrer's Hey Hey ( reference link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJJpDQfnx-Q )
but had this double-banging underlying beat that absolutely DESTROYED the dance floor while he unleashed his fury. By the way, I heard no less than 4 remix's of Dennis Ferrer's master piece last night.
Also heard Austin Leed's new slammer, in the club (check it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzsq4GBax20 )
Cam Maxwell had told me that Dj Dan was a LEGEND in the Breaks world... and indeed, I had heard an interview on Sirius FM with DJ Dan while he was in MIAMI for wmc where the interviewer cornered DJ Dan and asked him if he had brought any breaks down to the sunny south with him, and Dan revealed he had a few new Breaks productions to try out.

(Editors note: Please take note how Cam Maxwell's title in this ad has been appropriately shrunk and deferred to DJ Dan's)
Guess what peeps--He unleashed those WICKED break tunez at Footwork last night, and DESTORYED the dance floor.
I couldn't believe my eyes...3:30 am, and the dance floor was still completely packed. The FURTHEST thing in my mind was making my way back home. It was incredible the vibe this guy was weaving...

So many over-woven beats..the music sounded so jammed pack of sounds and rhythms complete with vocals that I was in an incredible level of jizz-enabled BLISS. just listening to this guy...
Here's my run down:
Evan G -- is it just me, or is this guy really bringing it to parties lately? He knows what tunes bring the crowd up and he totally demonstrated it last night. Cam was telling me he ripped it up at BC's underground venue Gorg-o-Mish with him last weekend. Nice...definitely gotta keep my ears open for this guy in the future
Rob G -- had the crowd moving, but nearly slaughtered me with pure unadulterated electro. My ears were nearly bleeding. However (quick story here), as I held my ears tenderly in my phalanges, Footwork promoter and overall nice guy, Jon Jon sees me squinting in pain, disappears and then reappears to me with a pair of disposable earl plugs. Can I give a big "what up!" to Jon Jon? Thanks man.
As far as ear plugs go, construction ear plugs are good for blocking sound...too much sound... so for enjoying sweet electronica audiological bliss, they aren't good. You'd be better off ordering a pair of these off the net, like I did: http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/er20.aspx
Hopefully I can stop @#%@#%ing forgetting them everytime I go to the club.... IDIOT (me).
Cheers to Sasha, great seeing you buddy. It has been ages... those shots you took of Cam look great. Even the "special" ones (GayDj.com).
Oh, and check out what was playing on Sat radio when I left at the end of DJ Dan's set:
