I'd like to say it's going to be a cracker but (Australia aside) , if the performance of both teams in the group stages is anything to go by , we may be in for a tentative game with a single goal deciding the outcome.

My bad. I was not aware Fifa stopped awarding a win if a match went into a penalty shootout.

After more reading , it seems to be one of those grey areas where propagators for both sides (awarding a win for a penalty shootout or not) seem to have concrete arguments.

Surprising to think that Fifa sided with the belief that a penalty shootout is not a test of a players skills. I would think confidence and the ability to control your nerves make all the difference in a game. It is usually the better team on paper that wins a shootout.

Even during regular play, if nerves are not considered to be a part of your skill , why did France and Italy get knocked out so early this year? Clearly their players are more skilled than their counterparts in their respective groups.

How awesome would it be if Argentina - England meet in the Quarters and Argentina get knocked out by a hand of god from Rooney after which Rooney celebrates by running towards Maradona, clenching his fist and pointing at it with the other hand.

going to be an interesting match.

Germany played sick today, I'm hoping they play that exact way against these boludos because Argentina does have a good team.
