I always thought the classification of the music I like is techno- but just realized that Min Techno is the shit. Anyway i know classifications dont mean that much but it was pretty cool to learn- all through play.fm- it helped. What djs kill it for min techno?

Well minimal most of the time doesn't have melody at all And Mau5 certainly doesn't qualify as minimal techno.
It seems like the minimal/tech house crowd is afraid of melodys. Like "Melody? These trancecrackers use a melody thats embarassing as fuck! I'm way cooler than these fags, I'm not going to use a melody at all"

I don't see the problem with idea of melodies either, but then again, I think some just associate melody > memorable/accessible/anthem > cheese. It can be a slippery slope. Myself, I love a really great, drawn out melody, but I think melodic "textures" (i.e. not a distinguishable melody so to speak) are probably less "embarrassing" and seen as more mature. Sometimes, I just want to drown myself in the music, not hum along to it.

deadmau5 minimal techno... that's must be a joke mustn't it? what was known as techno (and developed to trance) and minimal techno had absolutely nothing to do, that's what i don't understand.
