Had to go back in time to the summer of 2002, because the summer of 2010 sucks so far. (Just look at Beatport Top Trance 100 charts Sucks cocks in hell)
Also, I know i should not have posted this hear, I just want it to share with every one that likes old school mixes and some rare hard to find songs like Scanners - Prayer, been looking for this song for years and can't find it any where!

Oakeys 1999 world tour sets still get weekly play out of me and I have Oakenfold - Live at Havanna cuba on my phone and jam out to that constantly. Tilt's human mix of Invisible is my favorite female vocal track of all time 3.30+ minute breakdown?!?!?!?

The above TL needs more Amoebassassian...

The world needs more Amoebassassian!

Oakenfold's 99 Essential Mix World Tour and his GOA mixes and A Rare Treat mix are what hooked me and hooked me bad. An absolute must hear for anybody who claims to like Trance. The 99 Essential Mix World Tour not only defined the world traveling model still used to this very day, it also set the trend for the rock star, world tour approach to dj'ing. Not to mention the mixes are the best I have ever heard and ever will hear.

A lot of people don't realize just how important Oakenfold was, still is, and will be. Not just from a musical standpoint but a business and trend setting standpoint as well. He is not afraid to push the envelope and has had wild success when doing so. I actually had the pleasure to speak with him 8 months or so regarding a business proposal that would rake in SO much money (He called 5 days after I fed ex'd it), but one of his artists got wind of the conversation and decided to pull up a thread from 2005 where I called him a washed up coke head and had his secretary print it. Needless to say our next conversation wasn't much about business, although he was still as nice as he could be given the circumstances. It kinda still bothers me to this day, because I could hear a massive amount of disappointment in his voice and he said at least 4 times that "I was ready to offer you a job" - Could have, and should have been, my big break. But, oh well. What can I do?

If you're curious about what got his attention....Basically, the business model was simple because I already have access to the software that would allow Oakenfold to travel world wide and have his (or any perfecto artist) sets streamed live on lets say www.perfecto.fm (with pre-recorded Perfecto licensed music playing when nothing Live is being streamed) - There would also be a shop where people could buy clothes, accessories, mp3s, etc.

Having already developed the software for "virtual tickets" where fans would have to pay to hear (Let's say $10), and eventually see, the show. For instance, he'd be playing in Mumbai and there would be a calendar showing the upcoming event. People could purchase virtual tickets for it world-wide and tada. Best thing of all, royalties, rights, and just about everything legal has yet to be solidly defined on a true global broadcast (This is directly from Paul.) These sales would dwarf the actual gig and re-define Top Jock touring DJ'ing as we speak. As I have always said, in 2-3 years high speed internet will be on every DJ rider. This idea will eventually be grabbed by the horn by someone else and it'll take off, but I can take solace in the fact that my friend and I have been developing it for around 5 years. We actually use it with one radio station, however I'd rather not say which.

I have no idea why I'm telling you guys about this LOL, but it's probably due to the fact that I don't care anymore about it. I just wanted to do it with Paul, period. I have zero desire to bring the proposal to Armin or Tiesto, etc. I wanted Paul back on top and envisioned him and his entire DJ booth slowly coming down while he displays his signature Frohawk that we havn't seen in a decade to say I'm back mother ******s.

Thanks for sharing that Stephen. Sounds a brilliant idea and I'm gutted for you that it didn't work out. I am also a massive Oaky fan going back to the amazing 1994-1999 era.

I love those 1999 world tour mixes. Someone said the trance this year isn't very good. I have to disagree. I used to be like that where i compared everything to 1997-99, but it's just different to what it was. There are lots fo great tunes out there. Of course there is lots of shit too, and you have to hunt through beatport for a while to find them but they are there! Its just that its so easy to put a tune out now that its saturated with tunes that sound the same.

i agree. There was a lot of pants tunes in 1999 too, no matter what anyone tells you! Today's stuff sounds amazing with the production technology available compared with back then.

Just been listening to Pete Tong's Twisted Beats from 2001. CD2 is brilliant!

I like a lot of the old stuff . I loved Oak's goa mix. I actually like the quaint charm in a lot of a lot of the old songs in terms of mixing and sound design and selection.
