Namibia and South Africa -- i've heard the alleys around those parts are littered with diamond studs that nobody wants to have.
Good choice on opting to get some cheap diamonds btw.
You'll probably get lucky in some back alley cause that's where most of the reputable diamond merchants seem to hang out. Look around George St and Sherbourne and Shooter area. Ask for 'lil Mo' and 'Big Cheese' - both come with excellent references. They'll probably sell you da 'rock' at rock bottom prices as well...Make sure you check for clarity and cut, cause that's importnat when you buy.
Best-a luck buddy, not that you'll need it though. You seem to be on the right path with your thinking. Cheaper is definately better -- especially given how easy it is for the laymen to spot a real diamond from a fugazee.
