Cytomic The Glue vs. PSP Vintage Warmer

Anybody here have/use both of these? I have Vintage Warmer and use it religiously for buss compression/glue. But, I'm looking at a good deal on The Glue and I'm considering picking it up, but not sure how much I'd use it. Yes, I've tried the demo several times and it's a very good compressor, but my main concern is that over the long-run, I'll probably just end up using either VW or The Glue and the other will go unused.

So, my questions to those of you who have used both VW and The Glue extensively, do you find that you prefer one over the other and, if so, why? Do you think there's much sense in owning both, particularly considering that I can get The Glue for a little over 50% off.

Also, please note that I'm not looking for random suggestions of your favorite compressor here (yes, I'm looking at all you UAD whores ) because I'm not in the market for a new compressor per se, just being opportunistic.

To me its not worth having both because just like you said it, you will just end up using one in the long run and the other will end up unused. Unless you will go on and use both for different styles / genres because of the different results. The Glue is the new kid on the block and maybe, call it evolution, you be more satisfied with that.

I would pick up The Glue. I dont own it, but its on my buying-list and from my own little test sessions I ended up choosing it over VW.

Well, that's actually a very good consideration seeing as I do work with many styles/genres and different musicians as well...hmmm....still thinking about it, but I have to decide soon before the deal is gone.

having different options for compression (even for similar styles/tricks/techniques) is always great. One does not always sound better than the other.

i have the two you listed along with softtube tube-tech, ik multimedia opto comp and fabfilter pro-c and love each and everyone of them for bus compression!

Get it!

I have both, i usually use glue on drum bus (gives really clean punchy drums) and vintage warmer on master. They sound different, glue more clean ,digital and vw... warm.

How much is the Cytomic The Glue? Better off investing in a $600 (used) dollar analogue stereo compressor, which you could easily sell back down the line for $500 or so, cost to you only $100 if used for 1 or 2 years. Chameleon Labs makes a decent one.

Similar to SSL VCA compressors, and uses DBX circuitry.

I find myself using both plugins. Glue usually on individual sounds, the VW for master processing. Sometimes i have a combination of Glue and VW on the master.

The Glue is $99 new, I got it for less than half that. As I mentioned, I'm not really not in the market for another compressor and I actually do have an outboard one - I just happened to have some spare cash and a great offer on The Glue, which is a pretty fantastic plugin even at $99, so I took advantage.

Thanks for all the advice, though, guys - this forum rules.
