And my last question, do I need anything else to run the Nord with FL? I just have a very basic set up, PC with Core2E7400, 500gb HD, 2Gb ram, FL Studio, xiosynth, alesis monitors and the rest vsts. Does the Nord connect via standard usb to my computer?

The Nord units, like most MIDI synths, do not have a USB interface. USB interfaces on synths is quite a new feature, so don't expect to many synths to include them. Only Workstation synths, the LP and Virus have them AFAIK.
So you are going to need a MIDI interface of some kind (MOTU or M-Audio), and an audio interface with a free pair of stereo inputs. You do not mention your audio interface, so you'll need to ensure that it does have this. Also, when you pick out your MIDI interface, make sure you future proof by getting at least 2 in/2 out. Then you have another set of MIDI ports if you decide to add another hardware synth in the future.
You'll need a free USB port to connect the MIDI interface on your computer as well.
You'll need 2 MIDI cables and 2 male/male 1/4 inch audio cables of desired length.
Also, bear in mind that when using MIDI synths with most DAW software, there is going to be an inherent delay from the time you press a key to when you hear a sound. This is simply because its going to take a bit of time for the MIDI signal to go from your keyboard to the synth and for the synth to send the sound back to your audio interface. You may compensate for this using negative MIDI delay, but not all DAW software supports this. Also remember that even if your audio interface latency is 0, you'll still have this delay, so be prepared to compensate somehow.

Ahh man the audio interface is gonna run me another few hundred isn't it? Had no idea a sound card wasn't sufficient enough. Is there anything else I can do about that or is it basically mandatory with a Nord? thanks

get a virus snow, period
i promise beyond all promises you will benefit more from it.
#1 - No new audio interface is needed. It connects via USB for 3 parts. If you want to use it on more than 3 tracks at a time, you'll need the inputs, but since polyphony is limited, i wouldn't use it on more than 3 tracks personally.
Get a virus dude. Trust me. If you have a hard on for Nord sounds get Discovery Pro VST and save yourself some $$ and time. |
Wow I see one right now for an even 1000 with the warranty. Ah man should I really do it? I'm gonna give myself a few more mins to decide.. no more delayn on this crap.

I honestly can't believe that you've been around on this site for as long as you have and you still don't understand that hardware synths need audio interfaces. Its pretty basic. "Does the nord connect via standard usb to your computer"?
Try buying a decent interface first and then think about a synth. And no, a new shiny hardware synth will not fix your problems with your songs.
And try learning to spell, "nevered"? Come on, how old are you?
PS
Get a nord 2x, the 2s aren't worth it. |
Eat my ass you fvckn loser.
If your gonna insult me why bother leaving advice? You'll be the last person I listen to now dipshit
