Stolen!: my IPOD and cell phone, beware for those parking near Avalon
Just wanted to make everyone aware of the parking and mainly the parking attendants at parking lots near and around Avalon. I'm sure you know this guys.
The attendant jacked me for my IPOD nano 3rd Gen, and my Samsung not so smart phone last night (8/21/10) when I went to go see SvD. That idiot thinks I'm stupid if he doesn't think I know it was him. The parking lot where this happened is the one located at Argyle and Hollywood Blvd, the small on the west side of Argyle, that has an ally that leads to the bigger parking lot right in front of Avalon. He didn't take my wife's purse with credit card and cash, cause he only saw me put my IPOD and cheap phone away. And to top it off he also took a picture I had of my wife.
what does this guy look like? young, between age 20-29, sadly Hispanic, so he makes my race look bad, medium brown complexion, semi-bald, 5ft 6in to 5ft 10in.
P.S.. if your the guy who is reading this, your a loser and you will always be working at a parking lot!
In this life, we pay for everything...it all comes around.

update, doing a police report, and contacted Pantages Theatre PR about their contracted Sunshine Auto Parks parking attendants. The wife says she remembers seeing a camera up by theatre building overlooking where my car was parked. wish me luck!
This can go from petty theft, below $300, to grand theft easily. Potential year in county for this bastard.
I met a man who got 6 months straight in county for stealing a perfume from Macy's. He mouthed off to the judge and she gave him the max for petty theft. yeah its on!

I doubt any of those parking lot attendants can even spell "email," let alone go on a message forum lol
On a serious note, good luck with finding the guy. I would just contact the valet company and have them refund you the money for the items stolen and move on...

I doubt they'll do that Nero, usually the lots have a sign that say, "not responsible for lost or stolen items" or something.
Couple years back i went to red to watch BBB. When we came out, one of the "parking attendants" was trying to make us pay for parking again, guy looked creepy and wasted. We told him we already paid when we got there, he said "no the guy up front told me you didn't pay. I said, that's the wrong guy and he went up to go talk to him, and we took off. Think he was only trying to scam us.

You can have a sign like that but if one of your own employees steals something this warning can't be used to argue that it wasn't their fault. it's not a catch-all, they just put that on there in case there is a car jacking for example.

The parking lot signs talking about not being responsible for lost items don't mean they can't be held accountable. I'm no lawyer, but I remember taking a class where the professor explained that if the parking lot is at fault for the incident, they can be held responsible, no matter what the sign says.

I know this may not go anywhere, but if it does, it just would put out the word to all those parking attendants. That someone went to jail for jacking a customer. It could benefit all of you that park in this area.
Quazar, I agree. I read a case once where a teenager waived her rights to sue in case something happened at a river rafting event she went to. She drowned, and her family came back to sue for wrongful dead or something like that.. court agreed.. though she had waived her rights, it was illegit. Obviously a more extreme case.
sigh

When you valet, that sign doest mean shit because they have your keys. And like how others already mentioned, there are loops holes in the law even when a sign is posted.
