Question would love a little feedback pls - Sean Tyas-esk track (hopefully)

it's been quite some time since i last posted a track up in here because i've been having quite a bit of writer's block lately n haven't been able to get out something i like.
i eventually came to this track which actually started it's life as a bootleg of Yves LaRock - Rise Up. I quickly decided to drop most of the vocal and to only keep the chopped up bits as i was fond of the sound of them. (The fact that you can't actually tell where they're from is handy too.)
I've tried to go with a bit of a Sean Tyas-esk sound with this track as i've been really enjoing his tracks like "I Remember Now" so hopefully i've come close to that.
here's a clip of the track, would love some feedback.

also, i don't have my monitors of much gear with me atm as i'm living on an island in the great barrier reef, so production might not be as clean as it should be. mixing down on $50 speakers sucks :P

Hi there, just about to listen. It would be best for you to set up a soundcloud account and put your music up there as you get a direct link on your thread. Saves us having to download etc, you will get more response that way..

Anyhow...

I like the build on the track, you could try and smoothen the bass sound out just a lil bit though.

Mastering we won't go into as you have mentioned your gear aint set up. I would however take alot of low end out of those string and pad sounds though, allows your other sounds to cut through the mix alot easier.. and if you picture it playing larger speakers and systems, the pad bass sound would drown everything out, its particularly noticeable when the break first appears and you filter the strings in.

Really like the vocal cuts, works well. nice melody, choice of lead synth is slightly samey in regards to alot thats going around now, but personally i like that sound, i know others would pick up on this though..

The actual chorus i enjoyed listening too.. I think eq'd correctly you have a nice little tune going on.. Good luck man

cheers for the feedback mate. didn't really want to set up a sound cloud account until i was happy with the tracks i would be putting up there, but it's something i'll probably get onto now.

and i'll definitely be trying to get access to some monitors (or at least some good headphones) so i can clean up the mixdown on the track some more.

thanks mate
