Making the jump from 3 to 5 is worth it, you may as well get record with it also because it has what every reason user was waiting for and a great mixer, that is if you soley use properllerhead products and not another host product like logic, abelton etc

Currently I'm using Sonar as my main work-station. The only draw-back is that there's no compatibility (currently) with its 64-bit environment and ReWire. If that remains a stone cold fact, I'll probably be doing a lot of music bed work in Reason and importing .wav files to Sonar where I'll treat them with additional processing, as needed. The other option is to do a 32-bit installation on Sonar, which I might also do on a new system, if not the one I'm currently running.
I've looked at Record, but it's just not as gooey as Sonar and I love and am already fairly familiar with a lot of Sonar's features. + the sound. I love the way it sounds. |
Indeed mate go with what you know already. Record isnt something i'd recommend if using another host type product. But it is a great product to use with reason as a whole. It should be reason 6 lol.

as their upgrade prices is so good for older versions (even version 3) i think im gonna skip this one eventhough it looks good (and hopefully the Reason 6 or 7 will have good upgrade prices too from my version 4). i want Record to disappear as a stand alone app and be part of Reason full box instead, also with Midi out so it can finaly be a complete daw. Im abit dissapointed with the whole Reason route since version 4, theres many things they should have included by now. Im not even sure they will ever get there so im not putting anymore money into this before i see radical changes in their politics. Reason 3 and 4 works just as great as they always did so I can stick with those for a long time. Meanwhile im focusing on logic for now.
edit: im also getting tired of the rack-view and cables. i want a fullscreen app and the instruments as pop-ups. i think im finished with Reason really.
