OK, so here's the deal. I live in an apartment complex, and there are times when I can shake the room if need be, but for the most part I don't have the need for the full power these things (JBL monitors) can put out.

SO, is there an amp that you can suggest I buy? I don't have a home stereo center (I rely on my computer for mp3's, etc). I am looking for something cheap. I don't need any "save up to buy the (insert newest, best amp here)" responses. SOmething cheap that will give plenty of power to my speakers if need be. I know absolutely NOTHING about amps, so anything would be appreciated. Thanks

P.S. Remeber, the key word here is affordable Maybe $200-250 ????

i'd probably go for the crown 300 watt one.. of course it all depends on your needs. hope that helps.

wow that crown amp is a good deal... crown makes good amps but i bet you can find the same amp even cheaper from another site, look around!

id have to say you are right, of those the crown would be my choice too! didnt realize crown made such an affordable amp.. now im tempted to get one ...

well, if you were tempted b4, then check this out. I went to www.123dj.com (I know they haven't gotten the best track record ever, but still) and you have to "e-mail them for the super-low price they can't put on their site" and the same amp is $229. I might just go ahead and get it. The speakers will be ariving anyday, so it would be nice to have this shit set up ASAP.

does this "futureshop" own a web site? i'd like to see that kenwood one

What kind of speakers did u get?
I seen Ce-400 by Crown for $999 and Ce-2000 for $500-600..

JBL S38II studio monitors. I went and tested these bad boys out, and holy shit...they rock.

DJ Chrono - Thanks for the input on that Kenwood amp, but I don't really need 400 watts. Thanks though, seriouslly. 300, at the max, is all I'm gonna need. That's why I think I'll go with the Crown. I might get on www.ebay.com to see if I can get a better price than the $229 I got on 123dj.com

yes, futureshop is a huge chain of stores here in canada and the US.

it is also a dolby surround sound amp, so the watt's are obviously less per channel

ok.. i know the price there is $249, but the shipping is no charge - im sure the amp is kinda heavy... so if 123dj.com wants more than $20 to ship it, you'd do better at djtronix.com - i purchased a mixer from these guys and they had to back order it (the RM3S when it just came out) and they sent it to me 2nd day air at no charge (yup.. totally free) because of the wait from stanton. so i had a good experience with them...

I'll do that Meridian, and I am going to look into getting the Crown from DJTronix now. Wow, this just gets better and better. I'm going to call 123dj.com and see what they say about the shipping
