New Apt is next to some generator, can the low frequencies damage my ears?
I just moved into a new apartment complex, and it turns out theres some like generator or something right on the other side of the wall. I guess I never heard it when I checked the place out.
Anyways, I can't sleep at night. You know the buzzing sounds neon signs make? Imagine a stronger one. Since I have good ears from producing and stuff, I can hear the lows, and its like almost a very small but constant low sine bass. It's like a loud beer neon sign with a bass frequency that goes through the walls a bit
Is this going to be damaging to my ears in the long run? It's annoying the hell out of me. I want to go down to the office and see if I can get them to shut it off @ certain hours, or get a discount because this is ridiculous.

Unless the sound is over a certain amount of decibels, I'd say you're shit-out-of-luck with getting them to turn it off.
I doubt it will be damaging to your ears unless it's loud (see: decibels, etc.) but it might not be so good for your sanity, lol

You won't be able to get them to turn it off, it won't damage your hearing, but maybe you can get some low-frequency ear plugs?

Get an air conditioner and turn it on during the night (and set the timer to 2 or 3 hours). It should cancel the sound of the generator out while you're trying to fall asleep

Costly to run air-con though.

Move! Get another unit in the same building if you can? Where in LA do you live?

Hence the timer... just 2 to 3 hours shouldn't be much
