Looks pretty solid, what's peoples thoughts on this.

If you have a lot of samples and what not you can really create a lot more shit on the fly now with no issues.

I like the look of it. But I'm disappointed that it will only function fully with the Rane hardware. Quite an expensive set-up if you were to buy Ableton, Serato and all of the appropriate hardware.

I can't believe no one else has commented on this. It's been in the pipeworks for what, 2 years. I guess maybe people have lost interest or forgotten because of that, but the bridge has been highly anticipated.

Yes is does. I've got heaps of questions about it that I want answers for before I even think about forking out dollars on the gear. Still it looks pretty cool to me.

I'll give it a good run and report back once my new laptop arrives in a couple of weeks. This is the reason I went with Serato over Traktor after all.

Fuck. I'm gonna be up for thousands before I can run this.
Do you already have the Rane hardware too?

No but I do have SL3. Got it for fairly cheap 2nd hand.

I'm tempted to get a Rane for the recording functions but not just yet. I'm still firmly in the "amateur bedroom DJ" category.

I've been beta testing The Bridge before they made it public. When I was testing it, it was pretty complicated to use and there were some issues, but they solved many of the issues now. I haven't touched it since then, so I'm not sure what improvements they made.

One thing that I do like is the multi track recording. That means you can record your set live and have Ableton record it on individual tracks so you can go back and fix your mistakes.

The Bridge works all across the board with Rane's hardware, ie. 57, SL1, SL3, 68, however not all the features work with all hardware. To take full advantage of the Bridge, you gotta use the 68. Also, you gotta own Live. You can't use a hacked version. On your laptop, you gotta have the latest version of Ableton Live and the latest version of ScratchLive.

IMO, I think a lot of people were let down with the Bridge. All the talk that there was about it on the Serato boards when it was first announced has nearly vanished. Also, when Serato released it with 2.1, it made ScratchLive 2.1 very unstable. A lot of users had and still have crashes and other problems. You can read all this on the Serato boards.

Woody that is cool what u said about recirding mixes and ableton automatically saving the tracks fir editing. What ive been doing with promo mixes is recording. If i mess up keep recording and redo the mix. Then after im done with the mix i delete the messed up mixes and splice all of the chopped up segments together. The bridge seems like a good idea in that respect. Its hard to nail allof my mixes perfectly as i probably play 40-50 tracks an hour. I mix all genres but dnb and my promos are all over the place hip hop, house, top 40, mashups (dont do too many of those though).

A little off topic but the "roll out" effect is great. When im slamming a track (lets say from 125 bpm and slamming in a track which is 90bpm) i hit roll out on the 130 track do a scratch and drop the 90 track. I try to limit myself to doing this once or twice an hour though. I hate hearing djs who do the same thing for every mix so i try not to do it. The roll out effect is very distinguished effect and i dont wanna play it out...
I get some of my best crowd response when i dont even" mix". It took a while for me to get away from that "i have to mix" mentality. Armin, pvd, tiesto. All those guys drop tracks. The right track at the right time. It gets the crowd and can change the mood in a solit second. Climbing up and down through bpms all night isnt a good way to get the crowd fired up.

And yes the bridge was hyped a lot. Ableton. Serato. Id rather use one or the other. I don't kniw if yoy can or not but i was pumped about using some of abletons audio effects in my bedroom mixing. I wanted to use midi serato and ableton all synced tigether and used interchangably. But i dont think thats possible (could be wrong havent used the bridge yet).

I only use ableton for editing. Making 32 beat intros. Cutting out verses of a song (top 40). Cutting out stagnant sections of songs (edm). Putting a little snare in a breakdown.

I like hitting my crowds w fire. If there is some bunk shit in a track i cut it out. Sometimes its impossible to cut things out of a song though unless u got acapellas and instras. But 90% if the time i can.

Ableton is the perfect tool for me.
