Serious talent!!! I'd love to see this guy perform in Toronto.
This guy really stands out in the atmospheric electronica / chill out genre.. such heavenly sounds. Personally, I find him to be on a par with renown artists such as Trentemoller, Pantha Du Prince, and Alex Smoke.. to name a few.
He has a free album coming out on Mescene Records.. It's meant to be released by now, but the media section of the label's site is still under construction. Here's a sample of the album:
I don't know of any promotion groups that book chill out artists. I've never even heard of any such parties (save for the Harvest Festival) but that's not held in the city. Do u know of any venues downtown that support gigs like this?
You should also find out if this guy performs live. I know of some producers who just release material and never perform.

He does play live.. most of his gigs are in Europe though. I'd say Drake Underground or the Phoenix are suitable spots for him.. seeing him at Piknic Electronik would be out of this world.
I don't know of any promoters that book these type of artists either.. Hopefully this thread catches somebody's attention. If anyone knows of promoters who would be interested, then please do give them a heads up about Van Hai.. or let me know about them and I'll send them an e-mail.

"Even me?" she said.
I thought, "Oh right, if I categorically eliminate all other people, it's just me and her. She'd like that.
"Especially you" I said.
"You are virtually the ring leader, the way I see it."
Then, I blew out the candle.
Sweet man, thanks for the info. I've been looking for venues that play chillout.
What you could do is find out who the promoters are for Pheonix or DU and see if theyre interested. You'd have to start the initiative.
This guy has some nice stuff. The intro to SADE reminds me of saucerful of secrets by pink floyd. I also recommend Darage Bang who can be found on Soundcloud.

Great producer but I almost guarantee that nobody in Toronto would book him. The best we can hope for is maybe Mutek in Montreal but even that is somewhat doubtful.

Glad you guys like his music! Adam420.. I'm going to contact Mutek about him.. hopefully they'll like his stuff.
MikeyN.. You're welcome.
Pozz.. A lounge would be a great venue.. but I'm going to try contacting larger venues too.
blikebert (cool name).. I thought I'd ask him first, considering that his gig schedule is centered around Europe. He sent me a response saying that he's definitely interested in performing here. I've already started contacting people that might be interested in booking him. Let's hope somebody takes notice of his talent.
Thanks for the heads up about 'Darage Band'. I'll give them some undivided listening time very soon. Ah Pink Floyd are so ahead of their time. 'Saucerful of Secrets' is a beautiful song.
Here's one of the sets he sent me.. stunning to say the least. Enjoy! Van Hai 2009 Set (link)
