people who say money doesn't buy happiness are insane

seriously. i was just thinking about it now unless there's some kind of enlightenment i don't see.

almost all of the times ive been "happy" or what have you has been due to spending some sort of money.

doing road trips with the boys = money
getting drunk and making a fool out of myself in hilarious moments = money
taking prospects & the guys out to the cinema = money
travelling and basically doing anything = money

so unless these idiots think sitting on their ass doing dickall is enjoyable then yea go for it. we live in a world that is dominated and lived around the fact of income/money. if you have an abundance of it then you're pretty much clear of any kind of stress and/or worries.

Rich people generally get that way by being stodgy and selfish. I think that's where the idea comes from. It's just about knowing how to use it to make you happy.

I don't care how much money you have no one lives without stress/worries. Having money is just one less worry that you'll have.

But yeah I agree money does buy happiness.

i was thinking about counter points to what i said and ive come up with this.

first of all, its not like these wealthy/rich mother ******s have no friends. go to any private club, they sit there all day drinking and talking shit and laughing (i know this because a private club is a client of mine) in fact some of the worlds biggest brewery companies have been created (millstreet) by two shitbags sitting down at a table being like "yo i got a million, lets start some shit" pretty sure they're living the life and smoking cubans happy as a clam.

as far as "relationships/love" it's a difficult one to argue really because its all about one's own definition of happiness and some laying the blame. like, some rich bastard could give a fuck if hes got some gold digger taking some loads to the face, for him as long as he's getting pussy he's happy and doesn't care. thats happiness for him.

then they're are probably the lonely buggers who are just to dumb to figure out how to get their game on, that's an internal issue and has nothing to do with money, therefore shouldn't count and people just blame "oh he's rich and lonely, the money must be the problem!"

no doubt a majority of them are probably extremely snobby/egotistical and they come off as sad and pathetic unhappy bastards but again, more internal conflict because they're dumb enough to let the money to get their head. money was the start of the problem but wasn't the final cause. you can't blame money for that. its their own fucking fault and their own dumb brain that let them get that way in the first place. it could also just be that's the type of shitbag person they are and truthfully they are probably "happy" and just don't give a fuck about others but we just label them as unhappy because of their "negative" demeanour.

The point is that money alone doesn't buy happiness, and happiness is not directly proportional to money. Obviously it's almost impossible to survive without money, but the idea is that prioritising financial gain over your friendships, relationships, family, health and free time doesn't result in happiness.

I don't think money brought Lindsey Lohan happiness?
Sometimes it buys drugs, insanity and chaos.
Just sayin...

First off, we're all insane.

Secondly,

^this.

Also, LOL @ thinking $ determines happiness. Joy & Suffering have, and will continue to be manifest regardless of one having no money, lots of money, or even if money/currency itself didn't exist.

The only possible relationship I see between money and happiness is that money determines the MANNER in which many (but not all) joys and sufferings manifest themselves in people's lives, but it doesn't intrinsically determine the AMOUNT of either that one will experience, regardless.

One most likely won't live a miserable rich life, or a happy poor life, but it's just as unlikely that one will live a strictly happy rich life or a strictly depressing poor life. That's not how life works. Everyone's includes a fair share of ups and downs.

Money can't buy you family, friendship, health and memories. True, money does have an influence on external and material things, which do bring temporary happiness, but if you browse and pull out some memories, what brought you real happiness? Was it having a road trip with your buddies or was it purchasing (insert what you may)? .. I mean yea we all have wants, but money wont buy you the most valuable, intangible things in life .. yes? no ?

Like, if the person you love the most, will money be able to BUY you that lost feeling of happiness ? ...
