Institute of Audio Research

So I was planning on moving back to New York next Spring and I really wanted to learn the ins/outs of audio technology and producing/mixing and overall knowledge of the audio world.. Would you guys recommend this school? I have a huge passion for learning music and sounds and eventually want to produce or work for a company that deals with production. There's nothing else I wanna do and this is my dream. What do you guys think?

Feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

i dont know anything about this school....after a very brief glance im not too impressed to be honest. We have a few places to learn mixing/production ect ect. The courses, again very brief glance, look very vague.

End of the day youll learn most of your tricks/knowledge from others in the industry though....but its nice to have a stable background education if you are motivated enough to do so.

I go to Berklee online courses...i love them. I have been procrastinating in finishing but theyre great. you should compare:

you can even sample a course. be warned theyre not all the same though.

dont forget DubSpot too,.

yeah, she's right, I would definitely recommend Dubspot. Just go to www.dubspot.com they specialize in audio enginering and dj'ing. I think this is the place you're looking for.

Well what are you really looking for, a degree in depth knowledge in audio engineering?, or you just want to lear how to produce?... I go to SAE myself and its a great school to be an audio engineer. You also get a degree there not a certificate. If I was you look into SAE and they have an open house this Saturday. Dubspot is a great school, but they only teach you how to produce and use the tools of the industry and get certificates. Thats up to you, and yes SAE is expensive but they now have their own Financial Aid, wish I got it but didnt when I started. IAR, I heard wasnt all that, some of the new students in SAE looked into them and wasnt that all impressed. Of course this is just my opinion. Good Luck...

I would actually like to learn both as it would be easier in the long run. Its best to have an understanding for how to produce as well as the aspects of what go behind it as they go hand in hand.

When i looked at IAR i had also checked out SAE as well. The only reason why I didnt post about SAE is I heard the reviews about it and I heard people say it wasn't that good and it was a waste of money or they couldn't find a job afterward. Im still in FL now but im moving back to the city around May. Ill be checking more into both schools when im physically there so I can get a better understanding of both of them.

honestly, no matter which school you go to you will have a hard time with job placement. its really not a high demand kinda thing....you have to have a pretty good network to find great placement in the field. ORRR be willing to do BS sound board stuff...

Does anyone have any insight on Full Sail?

I always hear very mixed reviews about this place.
