Secret dj forum

A friend of mine was chilling with a top 100 dj who told him about a secret forum that all the top djs upload thier tracks to each other for feedback and or remixes.

Has anyone else heard about this?

I believe certain people have set up such forums. There's a Dutch one but it has been inactive for over a year now. I think there was some Scandinavian forum exclusively for signed producers as well.

So what forums do top producers post in? I know there's a few on anjuna, do they tend to stick with their label's forum if there's one?

Problem #1: DJs don't make tracks, producers do. Most "Top 100" DJs have never actually produced a track in their lives, even if one was signed under their name.

Problem #2: Remixes have to be licensed by the label. Blasting it to a forum with even just 100 other people in order to gather remixes would definitely violate their terms.

Problem #3: A-list DJs and even most B-listers have extremely busy schedules and do not have the time, patience, or inclination to sit around reviewing a bunch of cookie-cutter tracks. Even if they did, they sure as hell wouldn't review yours if you managed to crash their party somehow.

Conclusion: Bullshit.

They definitely do have time to do this, and its exactly what they do... on various promo pools.

OK, you're right in a sense - producers and labels send out unreleased tracks to the major DJs (or promo pools) for feedback, but don't necessarily always get feedback, and it's very different from the type of feedback you'd expect on a forum like this.

But I should have been more clear. DJs don't sit around reviewing tracks for the sake of reviewing them. They might go back to a producer with some general feedback if they really want to play out a track but it has some flaws that they want fixed. But you can get the same level of feedback by sending demos out to individual DJs or their agents.

It's silly to believe that the A-list DJs do this for fun or philanthropic purposes; they only give feedback if there's something in it for them. Promo pools are more like interactive record stores than public forums.
