I'm in the market for a new pair of headphones and I was just wondering how these were compared to the technics rpdj 1200 or the Ultrasone dj1?

Also is there any difference between the Ultrasone DJ 1 and the DJ 1 Pro in terms of sound?

thanks

I haven't heard the Ultrasone or the pro's so can't compar them, nor have i heard the techincs. I've only got a set of HD25 and the 53's.

I like the 53's for mixing as there's more emphasis on the mids and you're able to hear the kicks a little easier. They would never be used for casual listening though as 1 they're not tight enough around my ears for my liking, the isolation as well isn't as good as the HD25's.

The 25's are much much nicer to listen to music on. But i find it more difficult to pick out frequencies to beat match on them. Though i do find myself grabbing either or during a mix.

I use the 53's because i got them free, if i had to buy another set of cans i'd get the 7506's just to see if all the fuss i've heard on here is true. But if i were stuck with my original purchase of the 25's i'd be more than happy.

Sorry that's all i have for you..

I compared the XD 53, HD 25 mk2 and the new Pioneer HDJ 2000s when I was buying headphones. Had no budget really...

Tried the XD 53 first, and was certainly not impressed with them. They sound almost exactly the same to the Stanton DJ Pro 2000 that my dealer gave me for free and they weren't very comfortable since I felt some metal thing stabbing my ear. Don't know how you could justify buying those for such a hefty pricetag.

Tried on the Pioneer HDJ 2000s next and they were IMMENSELY better than the XD 53s. Very comfortable, very lightweight compared to the XD 53 and sound quality's better by quite a margin. The price on them were almost the same and I would've bought the Pioneer even though they were a bit more expensive. The problem is, the ones I tried were a promo pack Pioneer gave to the dealer and they weren't selling them yet. If they were selling them I would've bought them instantly. *random note - imo they look the sleekest out of the 3.

My original intention was to buy the HD 25 and they sound better (much more defined bass because of the mk2 model which had 600 ohms) so it never really distorts even if you crank the volume up way high and the crucial thing that led me to buy them was that they were more lightweight and comfier than the Pioneers and the XD 53. Also, I liked thinking that I was Ricardo Villalobos or Seth Troxler playing in my bedroom. The fact that they were around 50 bucks cheaper also helped.

Haven't tried the 7506 but have heard only great things about them.

So my advise is, get the HD 25 mk2. Don't get the SP1 or the normal HD 25 since they only have 25 ohms and will distort if you crank them up.

Taken straight from their site.. 70 Ohm impedance (http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...43747&forumid=8)

The mk 1's also have a 70 ohm impedance.

Only difference is the packaging steel cable, and you get a set of velour ear pads with them as well. You also get a 2 metre cable where as the mk1's had a 1.2mtr cable. And there's also an option out there somewhere to by the headphones with a coiled cable.

I confirm that the 53's aren't that nice to wear though, the headband doesn't really go small enough (although it is fine for my head).

I too was shocked at how bad they sounded when i initially put them on my head. I was comparing them to the HD 25's and couldn't understand how a set of headphones that cost this much could sound so bad, until i tried mixing with them.

Let me iterate though, there is no way in hell that i would shell out the 140£ that they're asking for the 53's. BUT... for the purpose of mixing I found them to be quite clear in the mids making it easy to beat match etc etc..

Unfortunately again I haven't got a vast experience on different headphones. But I'd agree with TranceOwns I'd get the 25's, or get yourself out to a music shop that has the 7506's and try them out as well. Everyone on here rants and raves about them. There's a thread dedicated to people's experiences of them. Well worth checking out. Plus i believe they are cheaper than the 25's.

Ultrasone earphones are amazing sounding, but they are not really club earphones IMO.

They came in the mail and my first impression was whoa what big headphones. I plugged them in and the quality was far better then 7506es. The bass was rounder and tighter and clearer highs. The XD-53's were very loud since they use the largest diameter drivers. When I tried mixing with them i became a little disapointed, i couldn't hold a transition long enough then i could with 7506. Locking on while beat matching felt loose not like the sony 7506 where it was a little tighter. Now i'm thinking exchanging these for the pioneer hd 2000's or just keep it for my collection.

I tried these headphones on 2 mixers, xone 32, vestax VMC 002

I know what you mean about the tightness. I actually personally thought they were eq'd to give off less bass and concentrate more on the mids. For beatmatching i actually found it a benefit but they're so uncomfortable for me. The cushions on the ears aren't pleasant at all and the band around the head is too rigid without feeling like it's holding onto your head.

If i were you i'd exchange them for the hdj2000's.
I'm not usually a fan of pioneers but when i put on a pair the other week i was very very surprised. Probably the most comfortable headphones i've ever put on. As i've said before you nearly want to keep them on as it's more comfortable to than taking them off lol.
