mens shaving thread.

OK guys. I've been using the Gillette Mach 3 blades since the first came out. They've always been expensive but they are the only blades that seem to shave me comfortably since I grow such thick hair on my face. I use to buy the 8 packs but I can no long find those and last night the smallest pack I could find was a 10 pack for $24. I looked at that and decide it's time for a change. A friend of mine told me to go and find an old straight blade and go to a local barber shop and have them teach me how to use it. He said he has been using his for over 10 years now and it only cost him the cost of shaving cream every year and it gives him a better shave than the mach 3. Problem is it will cut you face off much worse than the mach 3 if not used correctly. So tell me, who else in here, if anyone, uses a straight blade to shave? Screw Gillette.

The price of blades is extortionate.

It's like Pioneer Pro DJ kit, a premium product advertised in a premium manner, and the end user picks up the tab and then some.

I like shaving in the shower, without a mirror just by touch. I've perfected this practice over the last year. If it was to do that with blades I would literally have no face left.

Good luck to you though, I'd love to know how to shave with a blade.

I experimented with a straight razor earlier this year. I wouldn't recommend it. Its not easy to use, time consuming to maintain and easy to cut yourself. I have a hard enough time getting ready in the morning and don't need another obstacle (with a sharp edge).

I eventually found a good compromise a safety razor otherwise known as a double edge razor. It gives a close shave, the blades are cheap, plus they have two edges giving you double the amount of shaves. I settled on a Merkur Futur with Feather blades. http://www.amazon.com/Merkur-Futur-Safety-Razor

There are many brands and everyone has their own preference.

Huh, I thought hair removal would be one thing you wouldn't have to worry about.

I've decided to let mine grow as much as a pain it is inbetween times i really need it shaving.
Here in teh UK, its costing me around £8.00 for 4 Gillette Mac3 Turbo's, as they 2 are the only comfortable ones for me.
It's annoying so I try stock up as much as possible when there are offers on mac3 bits.

And i can only use 1 blade once or twice maybe 3 if lucky.

Gilette Fusion FTW. Five blades, not three..and ultra smooth shave. I usually scan ebay find good deals on refills (roughly half the cost of Amazon). Whatever the price is, it's worth it.

I've been using the Wikinson Sword Quattro Titanium. I find it more comfortable than the Fusion and the blades are slightly cheaper.

Gillette fusion blades are way too fucking expensive...8 blades at shoppers cost close to 40 bucks which is quite ridiculous tbh.

For my job I have to be clean shaven daily. I even use those mac 3 blades for at least 4 or 5 shave and then it begins to hurt so I move onto another one.
