Seventeen - Electro House WIP [FULL LENGTH: Dec 18th]

Update FULL LENGTH TRACK Dec 18th

The track is full length now and there's a new bridge and break in the track that I'm super proud of, it's still a WIP and not necessarily finished but the track is turning out really well. You will most likely be surprised by the change that happens after the second hook.

Seventeen Full Length by Seandroid

Update be done here, original text below.

This is my new electro house track I'm working on, I'm really trying to improve my sound synthesis, I've been doing a lot of research and just watching videos of how other people work and this is what's came out of it so far.

Truth be told, one of the biggest reasons my tracks were so cold before was because... well I didn't have any proper mixing headphones. I used to have a borrowed pair of Audio Technica AT-M50s but I was never able to actually getting to producing with them, but I've purchased a pair now and everything I'd done sounded like crap on them. All my synths were super tinny because my headphones were lacking like crazy in the high end and emphasizing the bass, they're great headphones but they were definitely part of the problem, because it was immediately apparent as soon as I listened to them, but I'm by no means blaming everything on my phones.

Hope you enjoy.

you use the "deadmau5" tag on your track, and it kinda sound a deadmau5 track, specially the first lead pattern...

the work is good, but i would add more effects, its sounding dry at the moment.

good luck.

the first minute is pointless. Just a kick and snare.

Yeah, I see what you mean. I was thinking about starting it later anyway.

I don't really put the deadmau5 tag on my tracks because I think they sound like him, I just do it because he's popular and people search for him, though I'll take it as a compliment that you think it sounds like something he'd do

And yup, it's definitely a bit too dry, I agree, I just wanted to hear what everyone thought about what I had.

Your kick sample just doesn't fit with the track dude, and your clap is a little too behind on he beat

Really like the part after 2:05 wow!

I actually really like the kick sample! Where do you think it doesn't sit right? I think it sounds great in both the proggy-breakdown section and the electro hook, I tried to find a kick that had balance and would work with both parts. Thanks though! I'm glad you like the hook =D Thanks man!

Not bad man, not my first choice of style for house music but you've produced this pretty well and for what it is, it was executed nicely.

I don't agree with Mad for Brad about the first minute being pointless however.. every tune in these types of genres starts off with a simple beat for DJ-friendliness. Maybe for the purpose of a sample to showcase the track it was pointless, but it's definitely a must if you're rendering it as a full project. Intro and outro for sure.

Keep at it bro! All the best!

I like this mate, nice melody and as sako mentioned once it kicks in, that part took me by surprise but its really well made, i just felt in that part, as good as it sounds, its still lacking something, a little oomph just to really get it going.. Maybe layering that lead slightly, and a tad bit more percussion, panned across the speaker to "widen" the sound... This aint a critisism just a thought mate

Well done though i enjoyed it !

The third chord in the progression starting at 1:09 sounds just a little hinky. I'm not sure if it's delay wash from the previous chord which colors it but it sounds like one note is playing in a key which is just barely sympathetic to the rest. To be honest, I don't even know if I would try and fix it. I could see you using that voicing for other purposes as you progress this song.

Other than that, however, I like what you're doing and love the lead and bass-work. Keep at it, man.

i've not much positive to say personally. however that bass patch you've made was very nice, good work!

im a big fan of synthesis, and sound-design myself. i sometimes practice re-creating sounds from scratch etc. i had a go at trying to re-create your bass, but didnt do so well.

here it is: [[ LINK REMOVED ]]

pulse and few saws > some oscillation tweaking > slight hardclip shaping > tubeamp > unision maybe i could have used a chorus but i didnt. ive had better success in the past.

I can hear Sako point - go to 1:18 and you will hear that is too dry (your kick) but 2:11 did a trick for me my friend - like it.

This is on my first run only and I can see a lot of potential in this production - keep working on it, it is really cool so far

Cheers

Hey, thanks man! Yeah, I wasn't going to get rid of the introduction, I was just thinking about shortening it, but I've decided to leave it be, I really do like it how it is now.

Hey! Thanks man! Yeah, I did some layering, I duplicated the lead synthesizer a couple times and added some reverb, and panned them, with different verb lengths, chorus and delay to the hard left and right, it made it sound much fuller.

You were right! I accidentally fudged up that chord, I fixed it though, it sounds much better now, haha. And thanks man!

Sad to see you weren't a big fan of it, but I'm happy you like the bass patch! By the way- one of your recent tracks inspired me to try something more ambient for the breakdown, and I think it turned out well, you might like it a little more now.

As for your bass patch, you're close man! There's no unison and chorus, if you want I can actually send you a loop of the bass patch soloed and you can have another go

I've worked on the kick a bit, I didn't change the sample but previously I had actually shortened the tail in the sampler, I removed that and you might find it suits the track better now.

Really though, to hear that from you is a huge compliment, your work blows my mind, I really appreciate it dude.

Anyway, for what I'm most excited to show you, the update I've been working on since I last posted, I think it's turning out really well, there are a few things I already know I want to change a bit but I'm too lazy to bounce the things I've already change, hahahaha. I hope you guys enjoy what I've done with the breakdown and the hook!
