Yea definitely one of the more innovative producers this year. Can't say I like all his stuff cuz I've just never really been into RnB and all that stuff he samples but I like his arrangements quite a bit.

God, I hope that's not the future. It's been a weird year for techno. Some good, some bad.

They're calling it "Post-Dubstep".

It would probably be better without all those silly voices.

That whole EP is just fucking awesome. Probably my best purchase this year. Something I didn't really even notice until my third or forth listen was how well white noise is used - not even on this track, but on the third or fourth track on the EP (I'll post it if I can find it anywhere).

EDIT: yeah, here's the one I was thinking of.

It almost seems like a disservice to even label in Post Dubstep.

I made a thread about him a while ago and no one posted there

Kid is huge, I really dig his style and he's quite a good singer too. One of the few people in the edm scene with actual musical talent (actual as in non-electronic music).
Album will be out february next year, it's allready leaked I think.

Oh and If you don't know them CHECK OUT HIS FUCKING HARMONIMIXES!!!!

He has an album coming out in february, and I already see all the cool e-zines drooling all over it and including it in their top 10 at the end of the year.

Though I must admit that this "post dubstep", or whatever the hell you want to call it, thing sounds kinda fresh due to certain novelty attached to it, I can't help the feeling that people will jump on it just because it's the next hip sound (and what's even more important - it's the next hip sound that derives from the previous hip sound that is dubstep). As much as I liked that Mount Kimbie album, I can't ignore the fact that in it I'm hearing Pole, Deadbeat, shades of Monolake, Four Tet, Jelinek, Mille Plateaux's clicks & cuts company and various other artists that people who are all over this sound have never fully explored.

I seriously expect the next year to be all about "post dubstep". Then soon enough it'll become saturated with talentless hacks and crowd with questionable intentions, and people who are listening to Blake, Kimbie, Scuba and others today will start to moan and listen to and hail other types of hip music of tomorrow and it'll be history repeating itself all over again. During that time people who don't care about fashionable music will enjoy innovative and creative music that doesn't follow any designated musical path without worrying in the slightest if they'll look cool or not.
