I was wondering if all you experienced djs could give me some help

I am soon going to buy a tt and mixer package which I have been wanting to do for AGES.

I know that spending ridiculos amounts on your first attempt isn't such a good idea and I also understand that you need decent quality stuff (not belt driven shit).

Realising this I have opted to get a package around the 500 pound mark, but i'm not sure what type of decks to get and where from (although I know a few places I would rather hear some of your opinions and recomendations).

Also I am am unsure whether I will need an amp, I have 2 stereos (one shit one & one quite good one with 3x cd holder but the cd doesnt work).

umm, shit I had loads of questions to ask but my mind has gone blank, maybe I will remember later,

Thanks for your help

mos

My advice:

Get technics 1200SL tables, doesn't matter whethere they are used or new, or m3d or mk2, needles no needles whatever.

just get them, as cheap as you can find them.

i know they are expensive, but they are worth it, because, either you will decide you love DJing, and then you have what you need, or you will decide that you don't and you can sell them.

everything else, is up to you, get whatever needles, mixer, headphones slipmatts you feel like.

In a perfect world everyone would have the top notch material from the start ...
but that's only in heaven or in our dreams that we can see that

another point is that he's from the uk ...
and this is not only a problem in the uk ...

canada and usa it's easy to have a job when you're young, and you can more easilly manage to buy better stuff but say in europe ... hummmm making money is harder when you're young.... that's something very few people take into consideration

ahem... I am 17 (18 in November) and I have had a part time job since i was 15 (3 to be exact). Money isn't a problem and it's not difficult to find a job when your young in the uk...

-So you would recommend getting 1200's or 1210's straight off then ?

that is what I did, I got technics right from the start, if you decied down the road that djing is not for you, you can easily get back the money that you paid for them. So my advice would be get techs right away.

i'd say go for cheap first, that way if you decide not to take up djing, you'll just have two cheap decks left over at your room.

if you buy techs and decide you need something with more toys on it (pdx2000,ttx1)? remember pdx is the same price as new techs and the ttx in some places even cheaper..

consider that not taking up your decks is no reason to sell your decks... (unless in need)

bear4569 is pretty right though, techs are the most expensiveless choice in case you decide to give up and are GREAT decks if you decide not to!

that depends on whether you're satisfied with your sound setup performance and whether you're willing to pay for new one+how much to spend on it... your choice

off course you can run it through your stereo
i say off course because a mixer's output has nothing different from any common cd-player, video even a walkman output. you just connect it to your aux(or video or anyway it is called) and guess what... it works!!!(sarcasm) isn't that great?

definitly. find them for a good deal lightly used, if you decide to get rid of them you shouldnt have to take any significant loss. they hold thier value.

techs are great decks...VERY solid!

I'd look for 1210MK2s if I were you.. nice black case and multiple voltages. or M3Ds if you prefer the clickless pitch...
