For melodic sounds, I'd generally go more with synthesizers rather than samplers. TB303 samples can be very useful musically, but quite different to using an actual 303 and turning the knobs as the sequences are playing.
Also, "best of the best" is subjective. Some libraries are better for certain sounds than others. It really depends on the specific overall sound you're aiming for. A sample library may be the best technically, in terms of the bit rate, sample rate and the pristineness of the recording, but a different sample library may sound much better for you personally in your productions.
