i'm not sure whether all the cops who showed for the funeral are getting paid, but i'm going to bet that helluva a lot of cops showed up, to pay respects for one of their comrades, regardless whether they get paid for the day or not

this funeral isn't about whether it's your tax dollar at work or not. it's about respect for a cop who died doing his duty

i don't want to make this personal, but i feel that it's important that the public understand why making a public display of respect for people like sgt russell is important

The idiots shut down King street and didn't tell the TTC. I was outside my office, when a TTC officer (or what ever) went up to the cop and asked if they are letting street cars through. The cop replies "I don't know, we are not supposed to".

Guys, it's a street car, it cannot just turn where ever you tell it to. How can a force which is charged with keeping the streets safe and orderly, not inform the transit commission that it is shutting down one of the busiest routes in the city?

RIP.

But fuck, guys get your act together.

The amount of police entering the building is just incredible.

I'm here now and am overwhelmed with the amount of support.

lol. really? because this has been on the news and all news outlets for the last couple of days. everyone knew that the streets will be closed. i would say they were pretty together.

Well the cop shut down King at Duncan, and the street car was packed. The driver didn't know what was going on. The TTC supervisor didn't know, and asked the cop.

So the three people at the scene, who were supposed to know, didn't.

This reminds me of the time I was trying to get home from the Guv on a Sunday morning with Smunky. And we waited on Yonge for 1.5 hours for a bus. The police had shut down Yonge after a parade, and didn't tell the TTC they were diverting all traffic. The TTC supervisor showed up and was asking around, and had no idea where the buses were going or why they were not on Yonge.
