I fail to see the "humiliating" part. Maybe the Hugh Hefner and Scientology/Tom Cruise/John Travolta bit? Maybe since Travolta's son died recently, so it was insensitive?

Well, they hired Ricky. They know Ricky's brand of humor. Deal with it.

Whatever, the guy is funny & he's just cracking jokes. Hollywood needs to get a grip.

I thought it was brilliant. I thought the stars who came on to present awards were just giving a little back themselves rather than expressing outward annoyance (Tom Hanks/Tim Allen/Robert Downey Jr.) at what Gervais had just said about them.

I have hopes for this show. It's low-brow but as unpoliticallycorrect as you'll get in the UK nowadays. I miss Bottom & Hugh Lawrie stuff.

yeah but that's never gonna happen on the BBC & they're so PC that the word 'apple' is banned on that channel. I saw eastenders when they asked pauline to pass them a round green thingy.

What the hell did they expect from Ricky Gervais? That's what he does. If they wanted to play it safe, they should have gotten someone horribly unfunny. Like Jimmy Fallon.
