Jury Duty
I had Jury Duty today and they tried to pick me to be one of the elite 12 Jurors, I'm thinking because of my race (being so called white, whatever that means) I'm actually part Greek and German with a bit of Indian in me but that is like 1%.
But my point is living in San Antonio where it is mostly a Hispanic town that is broke up into sub cultures of what a Hispanic is but that would take a minute.
Anyway to the point was they really wanted to me, I guess since the Prosecutor and Defense lawyers where white, as well as the judge, I guess they would think I would be fair.
So, I told the Defense lawyer that since his defendant didn't have to take the stand to plea his for his case that I wouldn't be able to make a fair judgement unless I could hear from his own mouth what happened. BTW it was a child molestation case and didn't feel like looking at graphic pictures of the 8 year old he sexual assaulted. So I was dismissed because I couldn't make a fair judgement on his innocence since he was hiding behind his lawyer which is standard procedure but the defendant was the 8 year olds uncles and if found innocence he could move back in the house with her but he was going to prison, we all could feel just by looking at him and then the graphic pictures the lucky 12 jurors would be looking at wasn't something I wanted to be a part of.
So, I studied the lawyers to the best of my ability and found that the way they pick and have to agree on the 12 jurors they want is actually another pseudo science that holds some relevance. I was there from 8 AM to 5 PM central time. Peeps, I was glad to get out of that shit hole of a situation.
Anyone else ever experienced a situation on Jury Duty like this or worse and has anyone every been a part of the 12 jurors and how did you agree on a verdict and what was your position on the case?
