Yeah Gainesville Use to have a great scene, much can be said about Jacksonville Orlando and Tampa, But the times have changed. The City counsel got really strict on the E.D.M. scene in G-ville around the Late 90's early 2000 passing Ordinances and Laws that made it hard for the scene to maintain. Trust me i went to many party's at Simon's in the early 90's that lasted 2 full days no-stop
Like i said If you into Electronic music then you should know about Simon's it is the first place in the U.S. that many of the Big names every played Including Sasha,Digweed Paul Van Dyk and so many more this is not and exaggeration it's a Flat Fact! Like i said Joe-C one of the Former Residents is playing Trust me i know That Gainesville is no Miami or Denver but the scene is still there. This party has been going on for the last 5 years and has been a blast every time this year has an excellent line up so far and they are adding more everyday. I hope you decide to come out im sure you will enjoy.
By the Way did you Catch any of The Parties at Gainesville Skate Park a Few Months back those were Awesome parties with great Dj's including Josh Wickham, Brian-H and Myself we had to keep those partis quiet but they lasted all night and had a huge Crowd you can find pictures and videos of those on my myspace page myspace.com/grantcarlislemusic |
I was there for the last good days of Simons myself. I think what the other dude is saying is that the parties that do go on, are shitty cause these DJ's play shit we don't wanna hear unfortunately. If you're going to play edm, at least play shit the people want. Bring on the banging house, prog, breaks...parties like the big jocks play, with tunes from said labels. Too many bedroom DJ's with no talent and ear for good music.
