PVD @ Telus Theatre - Technical Difficulties

First hour and a half by PVD was killer, a good reminder why this "should-be" top 3 DJ is in a class of his own. I was really into his set, until:

- Music completely stopped on two different occasions. The first time might have been Paul's fault, because he was able to turn it back on himself (I think). It seemed like his headphone cord got caught on a deck volume control (my guess). Second time was definitely not his fault as he looked directly across the club to the sound booth with a look of disappointment. Both instances lasted 2-3 seconds and completely ruined the flow of the set.

- Bass was intermittent after the first sound cut out. Paul had 5-6 discussions with the "tech guy" who was standing right behind him behind the curtains who was there in case anything went wrong. Bass would disappear on all speakers for 5 minutes, then out of nowhere come back on. You could see Paul trying to work with the sound booth to get the bass back smoothly because in the middle of a song he would create a tiny build using his filters (hoping they figured out what was wrong) and then give it another boom. The look of disappointment on his face when there was no boom-- I felt bad for the guy. He would give a fist pump right when the boom was supposed to happen, and had to stop halfway. His face just emotional, he wanted to perform.

I must say, Paul's a true professional, tried to put everything behind him and get back into it. The venue just wouldn't let him with their technical difficulties. I guarantee Paul Van Dyk will never return to Telus Theatre again. I also hope they figure out the sound before Sasha visits in March.

i noticed the things that u mentioned as well.
also, they should have some speakers in the back,or on the side.the only spots that had a descent sound was closer up front!
I was also expecting a crazier lightshow. I didn't really like his last hour or so,maybe because i was tired.

Sasha has been moved to RED LITE LOL!!

Sorry to say, but that sound system has nothing left of Aria's.

I'm actually looking forward for Sasha at Redlite, it should be better there.

it sucks the system was cutting out, what a buzzkill! I swear though, if they had taken sound conditioning into account at all during the construction of the theatre they could have avoided so many reverb issues... flat concrete walls and high ceilings, what do they expect?

it was a movies place before, it dates at least easily in the 70s... not sure they had this consideration back then.

probably true but anyone can add sound conditioning to any architecture..... anyone who actually wanted to create something beautiful out of the space would have done so... what bothers me is there was just zero consideration for the acoustics of the room. it doesnt matter what/how many speakers are in there, its still going to sound empty.

i guess money talks and bullshit walks! hahaha

**** these statements reflect my own opinion on the sound in the telus theatre not the people who throw parties there! ****
