This isn't one of those questions like "what is a .cue?" and such...Well anyways, I want to burn a continuous mix with marked tracks (so I don't have to hold FF on my cd player). I do everything right, and when I try and play it on my CD player, all I hear is continuous static on all tracks. I used CDRWIN 4.0a. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

P.S. I've wasted 15 CD-Rs trying to get this to work, and I don't wanna waste the 16th.

I had exactly the same problem with the latest CDRWIN. I reverted to Nero (can use cuefiles too now), and never have any probs.

Ouch, that situation is famililar to me, but I think the cause is totally unrelated. Once when I was burning a live set just like you, I got static as well - it was horrible, I could barely hear the actual music. Anyway I eventually found out that the problem was with my Winamp, which I was using to convert the .mp3 into .wav.

Anyway yeah try using Nero, it's the best. If you still have a problem post your .cue file here so that we can see if there is a problem in the file itself. Also make sure that there isn't anything wrong with your .mp3 or .wav.

Oh and a word of advice - maybe you should have used a CD-RW to burn test copies instead of 15 CD-R's.

you said you did everything right, so im assuming that there was no static as a .wav file, and the static only occurs on the recorded cd.
If thats the case, I would try to switch versions of cdrwin.
I use 3.8D, and it works more than perfect, as i record all my mixes with cues, using cdrwin. as far as creating the cues, i use cdrwcue, instead of manually doing it (isnt hard but leg work).
Some questions i want u to answer:
Did it work before? In other words, were u able to record a mix (anything) using a cue sheet with cdrwin?
How did u go about making or creating a cue sheet?

I tried using Nero, but as soon as I select the cue file and click the "OPEN" button, Nero just hangs and stops responding(yeah tough luck I know ). I have tried it with different versions of Nero, and the same thing happens.

I'm gonna try using CDRWIN 3.8D as bachatu suggested.

P.S. This is my first time creating a mix like that. I downloaded the .CUE file from http://www.regeert.nl/cuesheet/

hmm, sounds dodgy, I did one and used Nero and it was cool, but I didn't use a .cue. I was ripping live from Traktor and when I finished it was one chunky wav file at about 800mb, I encoded that into an mp3 and some good man from here gave me a link to a splitting program. It was really cool because it had like a timeline where u just click and it put a line in to mark it to end the track. I ended up with about 15 seperate mp3's and just turned off the gap inbetween tracks. You should have a go at that.

OK, I converted it to WAV. Tried burning with CDRWIN (both 4.0a and 3.8D). I get this error message: "Error:Invalid CUE SHEET command at line 1. Illegal filetype specified" Same thing with Nero.

Used fireburner...Worked like a charm

Although there is a problem...When I burn the .WAV file it works perfectly, and there are some pops and crackles during playback.
But when I burn it as an .MP3, it burns only the first 3 tracks and stops saying that the recording is complete. I would prefer the MP3 method, due to clearer sound (or maybe my ears are just playing tricks on me; who knows ).

All that said, I succeeded with about 17 wasted CD-Rs.

Actually it does matter. mp3's compress the file, and aswell as using a joyous algorithm to do it, it also rips both the highs, and the lows of your wave, these arnt often used so it dont make much difference, but clarity wise, a rip to a wave should be kosher. It just made my life easier changing it to an mp3.
