...late to the conversation, and I don't have a lot of experience, but...
What mixer are you running through? Your phono preamp could be creating some of the hissing sound, so I would look to adjust the settings on that as well.
Everyone else is right, above, regarding having audiophile over DJ needles/cartridges, and balancing everything right for optimal playback.
I'd also point out that using plug-ins to remove the cracks and pops and such: be careful not to use it on the whole song, because if the plug-in isn't very good, it could end up cutting parts out of the song it sees as 'bad,' but aren't really. I've used some that did that, so I just focused on the bit parts that negatively impacted the overall recording.
