People aren't compelled to procreate so much as it is instinctual. It's human nature to want to pass on one's gene pool, just like all animals instinctually mate to continue their "line." Yeah, sure you can choose to not do so, but to ask why more people don't is simple animal nature. |
this. Its an instinct, and if you're going to say that we should overcome our instinct, you might as well just make yourself a new religion. We're animals, we wanna have children, we want out children with our own dna-- trying to overcome instinct and be aim for an ideal has always led to horrendous acts (religion as I said above is entirely founded on trying to be 'better than our instincts')
death/war etc is the only way that the overpopulation will be 'solved', although the overpopulation we're experiencing now was essentially caused by what happens AFTER wars, and economic downturns etc, so that's not really a long-term solution anyway
also, if you check statistics etc, every first world country's population is plumetting, developing countries have drastically increasing populations which will turn into/already are big problems, but its a false generalisation to say everywhere is overpopulated. Australia (for example) is empty
