yeah but seriously theres fuck all, like i said in that other commercial thread in the music room alot of people diss it man i dunno i think its because they only hear the cheesy stuff then attach that to the word trance... because when a quality act comes out (tiesto!) everyone goes nuts... thats why i was so baffled at first especially the few months after tiesto (hey this is the few months after tiesto, ) but i did know before perth aint no amsterdam so you cant expect too much and in that regard i have tried to keep myself very open... i check out all the other events and shit and winter sessions for example was really awsome that was a very proggy affair i believe and it was good i enjoyed it alot, saying that i would have prefered our kind of music BUT it was good to hear something else too, i have respect for all music... but yeah your right, bring it on...

in terms of regular events there isnt one. or i dont know of one and ive been looking, hard. You gotta hang out for the events i suppose it makes them a little more special too... love a good event... speaking of which whos going to Ministry of Sound?!

I was going to ministry of sound, but, simply because I havent been out to anything good for ages, then all my friends piked, but that didnt bother me too much.

I think one of the problems with the perth scene, is that, if a local dj played windsider - hidden flight (if they could actually get a copy) with flight 643, like tiesto does, and did at metros, then they would laughed off the stage and told to go play at the rise. But when tiesto did everyone went crazy. It seems if an international plays trance, it's not cheese, but, if a local does, then all our hardcore drum and bass, and deep house people come out of the woodwork and complain.

The standard response among people is do it yourself, but, knowing nothing about djing or promoting, and knowing of 0 trance dj's in WA then we are pretty much fucked until a trance international comes out.

i hate how all the hardcores jump on the bandwagon and are quick to judge... its very elitest over here

The problem with Trance in Perth is that, although there are many Trance DJ's most of them usually play a song that the club asked them to. For example my friend Louis who worked in Geisha, He loves trance but unfortunately the club asked him to play break/prog instead of Trance. Another guy Kenny (Owner of DJ Fac and Church Resident) plays some trance at church (and on 96fm from 9pm sat) but not many. I asked him once and he said that not many people in Perth like trance, and it's not as big as eastern states. He used PvD as example when he played in perth he played some uplifting but mainly monotone prog. In Melb and Syd he mainly played uplifting tunes and good trance.

So I think unless we start having a lot of good Trance DJ's (Gielen, Picotto, Tiesto, Corsten, Armin, Blank&Jones, CJ Stone, etc etc) coming here more often than presently, It will be very hard for Trance to really grow and reach people (esp. remote) out in Perth.

I'm trying to crack into it, Still practicing my mixing before I do. Vinyls are the hardest part here too, nobody has any good ones (Save the odd one at DJFactory). The way I see it perth has a hardcore image (to perth people anyway) and trance is too 'sissy'. I've converted people to trance with some promo mixes and thay say "That mix was good, I loved it, just don't tell anyone else", and when someone says they like it to a group they get called (yes, by those said before) a poorass.

Well being the northern hemispheres summer, not many internationals are going to make it our way anytime in the next 2 or 3 months. So what can realistically be done about it? I mean if some one said WOOOOOO WEEK LONG TRANCE FESTIVAL IN METROS, then i'd be happy, but its not realistic.

The only option really is a small, regular (even if its once a month) trance night, but in this progressive and drum and bass town, what club will want to risk losing money on the music everyone else thinks is weak?

i was asking myself the same question when i went back to perth for a visit last march... i'm from perth but have been living in sydney for the past 2 years.. so i ended up going to rise on a friday night.. and the stuff they played was kinda cheesy and old...

so if anyone knows of a decent club that plays trance (uplifting/hard) please let me know cos i'm due back for a visit soon

from memory, globe on saturday nights used to be pretty good.. i think it was called "detour"? what happened to it?

i just read on inthemix that theres gonna be an all local trance/progressive night at the drum club this saturday? the 29th of june

if you've got nothing on why not pop down and support the local trance scene!!

imabug - theres nothing really regular on at the globe on saturdays anymore. There was technique before (tekno and prog)... but i dunno if that's still running

and tak! yo im trying my hand at the decks now too man i hav eabout 60 vinyls all classy ones i had to get them all imported and they cost me a SHITLOAD but fuck there all classics (silent harmon - save the whales! ) hehe but maybe we can swap or something i have some old stuff i hardly play and fuck vinyls expensive
