Who knows they might fly another plane into a building. I just wonder what other nations will follow in France's footsteps.

Instead of just posting a picture, it would have been helpful to post a link to an article about whatever you're referencing.

I presume you're talking about the bullshit bans on the niqab and burqa in France. Their justification for banning it is the biggest load of garbage I have ever heard and I think it sets a terrifying precedent. It's pretty scary when you start allowing the government to dictate what you can and cannot wear... next they will be banning skirts that are too short and t-shirts with offensive messages.

Stay the fuck out of my closet and out of my personal business. Wearing a niqab/burqa does not impose any real threats to anyone other than making those who are already anti-Islam nervous. If you're going to claim safety, then you should ban ski-masks, any costume masks, wedding veils, beards, sunglasses, make-up etc. Anything that can distort your facial image and make it more difficult to identify you is arguably a threat.

If it's about preserving secularism, then ban priest and nun garb, ban monk robes, ban people from wearing a cross, ban the turban, etc. etc.

If it's about protecting these women's rights and giving them freedom... well then, they are simply confused. Taking away their right to wear what they want does not in some way give them rights or more freedom. As a result of this bullshit ban, many of these women are going to feel forced to live as hermits, never leaving their home. That does not promote freedom. Besides, banning something that you think is oppressive is not going to change the root of the problem.

This is just poorly disguised discrimination and it pisses me off.

In england some places are banning hoddies and the crime rate dropped drastically. Seems quite reasonable, ban hoodies, and people dont get stabbed, ban those ridiculous pieces of cloth and people dont get blown up.

That's ridiculous. Most of the women who wear the Niqab (outside of Saudi Arabia etc.) do so willingly. They are not forced to - they WANT to wear it.

But who cares... who are you or anyone else to dictate what someone can and cannot wear? Pretending to fight oppression with oppression doesn't make any fucking sense!

First arrest already happening

http://www.smh.com.au/world/first-a...0412-1dbcg.html

quote:

Two women wearing burqas have been arrested by French police just hours after the Republic became the first country in the world to enact laws banning wearing the Islamic veil in public.

The women, part of a small group protesting against the new law in front of Notre Dame Cathedral in central Paris, could face fines of €150 and be forced to attend 'citizenship lessons' - although it now appears likely they will be cautioned because the demonstration was not authorised.

The French ban on face veils began yesterday and is the result of months of heated public debate and parliamentary argument, sparked by President Nicolas Sarkozy, last year.

His centre-right UMP government introduced the law as part of a targeted populist strategy aimed at quelling increasing public unrest about rising unemployment, widespread austerity measures and immigration.

Wow... what excellent logic. Because the Niqab causes bombings.

Yep... genius.
