Do Winamp Visualizations eat away your CPU memory?

Sorry to ask such a question... but do Winamp Visualizations eat away at your memory?

Hmm... i.e. if I leave it on for like 2 hours... will it make ICQ & MSN painfully slow afterwards? (assuming I don't restart)

Cheers

Yes it does. Everything you do on the computer uses memory and processing power. Some things take a lot, some dont.

Depends what comp you got, and wot Operating system you have, windows XP pro has a very good ram management system, and doesnt keep memory after programs r used, and refreshes it

As for cpu, yeah winamp visualisations will use a bit, nothign major though.

THe things that kill yr comp r all the stuff u have running in yr taskbar, and in the background, like spyware, etc

yes because it processing power for the gfx. most of the time it use 90-100% cpu resourse if u check your task manager in XP/2000/NT.

i know that while winamp is minimized and not playing any music it uses up a lot of CPU for some reason

winamp will use a fair bit of computer power deciding the actual mp3 file as it needs to convert compressed sound data into normal sound data

yes visualization can take up to 90-100% of your cpu!!! but that doesn't impeach other programs to run (multithreading, multitasking), they will run slower tho... CPU is shareable, memorey ain't.

i do belive that visulations etc run on the lowest priority of program, meanin that the cpu will first use its power for the programs that need it, then if it has some spare speed runs the visulation bit meaning all ur programs work fine

i do belive u can change the priority in winamp somewhere makin the visulation more important so it uses all cpu power first but that iant recomended
