Ok so I'm looking to do a remix soon with the use of an acapella. It's kind of an cheesy trance/hands-up type of track. I've looked on Youtube to see if there were any insightful examples of how to do this, but I could not find any. So I'm wondering if someone can help me out. I have FL 9 and I've played around with SliceX, Slicer, etc. but I just can't get it right. I can't keep it in tune with the beat. It's very frustrating! Please help if you can, thanks.

And also if you know how to do the technique with the fade in voice right before the vocals I would love to know. Thanks!

Load the acapella into audacity, slice each 4 bars into different sections. Load each section into a sampler. Go to the "time" knob, and right click, and choose 4 bars. If you do it right it'll line up for you.

Also, the new version of FL has Newtone, which lets you change the timing of individual words/sounds. You could try that too.

If you have Producer Edition or Higher, you can load it into the track section about, then timestrech with the sampler and line it up visually. I don't have producer edition (cause I'm cheap. :P), but I know it can be done. Don't ask me further on the producer way because I don't know more.

There was a good tutorial I found on youtube, I'll try and dig it up for you and toss it to you here.

I prefer Melodyne for this stuff.

Its too easy to use. Make sure the files a wav (no mp3s) open melodyne. Drag and drop, double click on screen, set tempo to match, then merely slide the notes up or down. Export to wav, all finished.

Is there an easy way to slice each 4 bars into separate sections in Audacity?

Nevermind I just did it in Slice X.

Okay that's good, cause my prehistoric method in audacity involves listening and deciding where the sections start and end by ear. :P

The method doesn't seem to be working. Still doesn't match up with the beat after awhile. And when I do that 4 bar preset thing from the time option it sounds that the voice has been through the granulizer or something. This is so frustrating!

Right click on pitch and hit reset? Are you stretching it slower or faster?

Ok I got it now! Works perfectly. Now I just need to get down that backverb you posted :S I want it to be like in the "Forever Young" vid, right before the vocals.

Send it into the fruity slicer, pick a vowel, then do the same thing he does in the backverb tutorial with the vowel sound. That's how Tune up! and Cascada do it.
