"I'm Blue" Hardcore Trance/Tech Remix

"I'm Blue" Hardcore Trance Remix.

This is my first hardcore remix. It is heavily influenced by trance so I figured it would be fair to put it here.

I need a little help on this, what can I keep in my mind to help make my future tracks come out better?

Thanks for your time.

"I'm Blue" Hardcore Remix by O.A.E.

I don't know if you got me and the wrong time, or the right time, we'll see.

The synths are instant Vanguard fail. Let the cheesiness of your recreation ensue.

And to make your track better... spend 10 years listening to house music.

Alrighty. And just so you know, it doesn't matter if it's trance, to post in this forum. There are no rules on that.

this track is pure cheese, because the original was total cheese and because this style of happy hardcore is pretty hilarious. Having said that if your into that style than your track is pretty well done. You nailed the feel and melody of the orginal and although I think its pretty lame, It wouldnt surprise me if mainstream top 40 listeners loved it. Im reminded of tracks by Cascada or basshunter. The kind of tracks I have to convince ppl arnt trance music when Im sticking up for what I listen to. But ya, your track has a nice mix and might be on par with the best of that style

Pretty much. I mean, if you played this to a bunch of drunk people at a party they may just go crazy. Or maybe just depending on whomever was listening to it at the time, who knows? If I were you I would play it well after midnight, though. That's a good time to drop this because people love cheesy stuff they are familiar with and have heard before after shots and beers.

The distorted synth you use to play the vocal melody line is actually pretty cool. It does well because as a distorted instrument it has some nice harmonic value not exactly like a human voice, but still with some even-odd content. Not like you need a scientific explanation for something you already know works well, but hey.

And as for listening to the track, I can tell (my second time listening) you were using the cheesy sound not because you don't know how to use a synthesizer but because you were aiming for something, which is a show of skill. A lot of people have elements of their track that are too overwhelming and the other elements can't breath or exist in the mix, but everything fits well here.

The mixdown is pretty much solid as far as I can tell. I would never play this at a party though. :-p Maybe if I was really fucked up and on drugs. Not to be a jerk, just being honest. But keep doing what makes you happy man.

Thanks.

I didn't always write cheese but I've grown fond of it as of late.

I'm really new to mixing and I am a total n00b, so it's good to hear the mix is about right. I do need to upgrade my setup though... get out of FL default stuff and maybe get some monitors rather then these terrible hi fi headphones...

i wouldn't worry so much about switching DAW unless you've reached a total wall with your creative productivity. however, monitors are a huge asset. your number one asset basically. use those for a while, then once you have had a few weeks or few months to fuck around with them, treat your room with sound treatment. it's not expensive, i can send you a link to a very affordable and proper foam company. just remember, give to receive, this can be your haven. good luck.

Thanks Evolve, I might ask for that company sometime.

I didn't mean getting out of FL studio, just meant getting a softsynth, maybe sylenth1 or something. I just can't stand the sound of the oscillators in 3xosc.

Absolute cheese, but who doesn't like cheese

I agree with E140 - although it doesn't sound serious at all, it works and sounds nice.

One note - I'm sure you're aware, but keep in mind that at this BPM (180ish?) it is a little hard to dance to, at least if you want people jumping up and down.
