Question aboutWobble automation w/ any VST - FL9 users

So, right now I'm using Massive and just recently learned how to automate any parameter of the vst through FL its self, using the thumbnail feature. Automating MODULATOR 5 RATE (LFO rate) to change the rate to differing speeds to get a melodically structured wobble going seems pretty abstract using an automation clip; its not very precise and is hard to forge out clean, correctly phrased varying wobble speeds to the point where it sounds good. My question is, for anyone who produces any track of any genre in which you have created a wobble with varying LFO speeds through out ONE channel, one synth more specifically, is how do you do it? Do you automate it through FL? How can I vary the LFO speed without using a duplicate of the synth im using. Do you guys play the track and and increase/decrease the LFO Rate and record it as you go and then come back and clean it up? Sorry if this seems confusing.

If I'm understanding you correctly, you've got a couple of solutions.

1) Automate the cutoff yourself (or whatever the LFO is changing). You can use either automation clips or pattern clip "events" for this, but it does give you more control, and doesn't restrict you to the same wobble at varying speeds.

2) Do a rough recording and then clean it up, as you said. Certainly an option.

3) Use an external cutoff filter as a mixer effect. Again, you can either use automation clips or event clips, but it does give you the freedom to use something besides the built in LFO pattern or Massive's built in filters.

Hope that made sense.

Have you tried: tools > last tweaked > edit events? But make sure you turn the knob first that you want to automate.

I think thats more precise than just generating an automation clip. You can basically pencil in exactly how you want the wave to look and its much easier that way as automation clips can sometimes be a bit finiky.

Go check it out and lmk if thats good enough. Because if not you're screwed.

ps - left click will do free drawing right click will do straight lines.

edit:
Oh one more thing I forgot to mention actually. If you need to actually zoom into the automation to get more precise than 16th's then do not use the automation clips or events. A lot of people don't realize this but you can also do automations in FL's Love Philter. Simply open it as an fx, then you can draw out lfo's free hand in the sequencer (of Love Philter not FL). But the difference with Love Philter is you can zoom in way past 16ths so you can do super fine lfos.

So if the edit events doesn't work I'd honestly just use the Love Philter.

Right on man thank you for the information! I had no clue you could do that with Love Filter, and I didnt know right click made strait lines, good to know, adds a little more precise control!
