Arrow Car Performance.

Hey guys, I have seen a lot of threads dealing with cars and performance upgrades. So, I was wondering what are the best upgrades to do on a car first? I am asking because I just got a Toyota Celica GTS and I really wanna make it fast. I would appreciate hearing some suggestions from people who know what they are talking about. I was thinking of putting in a new K&N Intake and then re-doing the exhaust into dual pipe or something. If you have any suggestions or links to sites with these kinda things that would be helpful.

Thanx

Can't really give you specifics but making an air filter change to a performance one and getting the exhaust redone is really the first step to making your car faster. K&N is good for the air filter and I know some people that have gotten good exhaust systems from FlowMaster. The next step would probably be having a cold air intake put in. This way the air going into the filter is cooled first since cool air works better than hot air.

Yah, I was thinking about getting the Cool-Air system into my car but I have no idea if they are made for my car. Anyone got some sites I can take a look at that make some good cool-air systems?

Almost any car can have a cool air system put in. You would probably have to find a garage near you that specializes in high performance if you want it done well.

I do have a garage that can install it very well, but I need to know where I can purchase it. There is a few shops her in town but they're more for amateurs and don't really sell the good performance auto parts, but mainly parts that make your car look better.

Bleh, I drive a 1992 Ford Tempo. I don't see the point in modifing your car..waste of money imo.

I'm not really sure of companies that sell that kind of stuff but go to a local store that sells a lot of magazines and pick up some High performance car magazines. They'll usually give advice on how to do this stuff and have a lot of advertisements for companies that make good parts.

No, its not a waste of money because it is my hobby. Everyone spends money to fulfill their hobies and improving performance on cars is my hobby.

Well, in your case as mine (I own a 97 dodge intrepid)...it is a waste of money. This is because modifying our cars won't make them much faster since they weren't made to be fast in the first place. Plus, as soon as you add any modifications to cars like ours, people will just usually laugh. I have friends who spend A LOT of money on their cars but they have performance cars and it's their hobby and keeps them busy.

I once picked up a Cutlass Supreme cheap and tried to mod it out. I learned a lot in the process, but what a headache. Take it for what its worth if you want fast car buy a fast car, cause its a lot easier to make cosmetic changes than fundamental ones.

For example if u increase horse power significatly then it can cause other problems, like the clutch could blow, because the rest of the car was designed to handle what org. came in it.

Yes, only 'performance cars' are really able to handle 'performance parts' and even some performance cars' need to be modified themselves so it won't break under the pressure of other modified things.
