Hello folks.
Noticed that at high volume my kick overpowers brutally my mix destroying it. At mid and low volume my mix sounds good, every sound is distinguishable and in harmony with the rest of the elements.

Should I use a limiter to limit its output power?

Pls help.

Either EQ your kick or use a totally different sample.

It sounds more like your kick has a strong amount of low content that only comes out when you turn the volume up (your ears being less sensitive to bass frequencies at low levels). Try a narrow notch filter on the kick to reduce it at, for instance, 50 Hz or higher. Post a sample though and I can be a lot more helpful (just a short MP3 so I can play with EQ on it).

Limiting a kick tends to kill the transient first since that's usually the loudest part, then start killing the bass punch and it just isn't advised on already heavily processed files (which kicks usually are), unless for getting the loudness up by another dB or so. Also be careful with dither settings, if any.
