Studio / Passive Volume Control

Is there one that doesn't impede on the signal, and that you guys prefer using? Going to go ahead and get one. Also, if this is your area of expertise, I would also like to know about a good hardware compressor.

TC Electronic Level Pilot is nice, cheap. XLR connectors only.

h/w compressor - I recommend the Drawmer DL241.

Cool, will check out both. Just needing some extra warmth and color out of the compressor, so yeah.

edit: But I may need a tube compressor or something like that. What PSP VintageWarmer does but hardware.

SM Pro Audio - Nano Patch or SM Pro Audio M-Patch 2 are both great for passive monitor control (i'm assuming that's what you going to use it for)

You probably don't want the Drawmer then. It's clean and pretty transparent. What's your budget? Anamod ATS-1 is possibly the closest, but it's around $3K. Cheaper option is the TL Audio Fatman.

i would prefer the SM-nano over the level pilot, quality wise.
even better would be the kush audio or spl volume.

compressor wise, if you're looking for mojo API-2500/Distressors/Fatso but most of the high end compressors are 2k$+ when on a budget try the ART Pro VLA II and stick some EI or Telefunken or Mullard NOS tubes in there. Then you're golden for around 400/500$

I use the presonus central station, does what its meant to do and doesnt mess with the colour of your audio too much.

The RNC comp's are supposed to be good value for money.

So why do you want hardware if you want something that sounds like software anyway??

Used the SM Pro Audio M-Patch 2 for years. Sold it a while back. It served it's purpose but was nothing special IMO.

You're looking for a piece of hardware that sounds like the PSP correct?? Why not just use the PSP if that's the sound you want? I don't know of much hardware which emulates software
